Abd al-Aziz bin Rufay' (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I sold some goods to a man. When I had sold them, I learned that he was bankrupt, so I brought him to the judge Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) and said: Take a guarantor from him for me. Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Your property stays where you placed it. So he refused to take a guarantor. Then I said: I had stipulated with him that if my heart desired, I would have the greater right to those goods. Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) said: You have acknowledged the sale, so bring your evidence for your condition.
