أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ، ثنا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرَّحْبِيُّ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " يَا مَعْشَرَ التُّجَّارِ، إِنَّكُمْ قَدْ وُلِّيتُمْ أَمْرًا هَلَكَتْ فِيهِ الْأُمَمُ السَّالِفَةُ: الْمِكْيَالَ وَالْمِيزَانَ " أَسْنَدَهُ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ حَنَشٌ، وَوَقَفَهُ غَيْرُهُ مِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O company of traders, you have been placed in charge of a matter in which earlier nations were destroyed, namely measure and weight."
Abu Ali Hanash narrated it as marfu' (attributed to the Prophet), while others narrated it through another route as mawquf (the saying of Ibn Abbas).
