Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out from Madinah for jihad against the polytheists. He mentioned the hadith, in which it is stated that his father was martyred and the creditors were harsh with him. Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Call so-and-so," meaning the creditor who had been harsh with me in demanding the debt. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Defer the debt that was owed by Jabir's father until the coming date harvest." He said: "I will not do it." He insisted on this, because it was the wealth of orphans. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Where is Jabir?" The hadith goes on to describe the repayment of the debt.
