أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، أنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ، عَنِ الْعِرْبَاضِ بْنِ سَارِيَةَ السُّلَمِيِّ، قَالَ: بِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَكْرًا، فَجِئْتُ أَتَقَاضَاهُ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ اقْضِنِي ثَمَنَ بَكْرِي، قَالَ: " نَعَمْ لَا أَقْضِيكَهَا إِلَّا بُخْتِيَّةً " ثُمَّ قَضَانِي فَأَحْسَنَ قَضَائِي، ثُمَّ جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ اقْضِنِي بَكْرِي فَقَضَاهُ بَعِيرًا مُسِنًّا، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا أَفْضَلُ مِنْ بَكْرِي، فَقَالَ: " هُوَ لَكَ، إِنَّ خَيْرَ الْقَوْمِ خَيْرُهُمْ قَضَاءً ".
Sayyiduna Irbad bin Sariyah al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I sold a camel to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to demand payment and said: O Messenger of Allah! Pay me the price of my camel. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will give you a Bukhti camel." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) repaid me in the best manner. Then a Bedouin came and said: Give me my camel. He (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him a mature camel, and the Bedouin said: This is better than my camel. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best people are those who are best in repaying."
