Zayd bin Aslam says: I heard a man called Shahr, who was a merchant, asking Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) about "bay' al-muzayadah" (selling by auction). He said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "None of you should sell over the sale of his brother until he leaves it, except for spoils of war and inheritances."
(b) Yunus bin Abd al-A'la narrates from Ibn Wahb that he was asking Abdullah bin Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah have mercy on him), and he narrated it as mursal (with the Companion omitted).
(c) Ata bin Abi Rabah (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I found the people seeing no harm in selling spoils of war to whoever bids more.
