Bayhaqi 10856 — The prohibition of selling what

Amr bin Shu'ayb narrates from his father, and he from his grandfather (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both)), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Attab bin Asid (may Allah be pleased with him) to the people of Makkah and said: "Convey to them from me four matters: 1. Two conditions in one sale are not permissible; 2. a sale combined with a loan; 3. do not sell what you do not own; 4. it is not permissible to take profit from a thing for whose loss one bears no liability."
