وَأَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ، أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، أنا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ شَرِيكٍ، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، ثنا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ جَرِيرٌ: " بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى السَّمْعِ، وَالطَّاعَةِ، وَالنُّصْحِ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ " قَالَ: فَكَانَ جَرِيرٌ إِذَا بَايَعَ إِنْسَانًا شَيْئًا، قَالَ: " أَمَا إِنَّمَا أَخَذْنَا مِنْكَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْنَا مِمَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ فَاخْتَرْ "، يُرِيدُ بِذَلِكَ إِتْمَامَ بَيْعَتِهِ..
Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on hearing, obeying, and sincere goodwill towards every Muslim. Whenever Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) made a sale with someone, he would say: What we have taken from you is dearer to us than what we have given you; you have the option. His intention by this was to complete the sale.
