أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ، بِبَغْدَادَ، أنا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، ثنا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَيُّوبَ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: اشْتَرَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَعْرَابِيٍّ، قَالَ: حَسِبْتُ أَنَّ أَبَا الزُّبَيْرِ، قَالَ: مِنْ بَنِي عَامِرِ بْنِ صَعْصَعَةَ حِمْلَ خَبَطٍ فَلَمَّا وَجَبَ، قَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " اخْتَرْ " فَقَالَ لَهُ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ: إِنْ رَأَيْتُ كَالْيَوْمِ قَطُّ بَيْعًا خَيْرًا وَأَفْقَهَ مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ؟ قَالَ: " مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ " وَكَذَلِكَ رَوَاهُ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ.
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bought something from a Bedouin — (I think it was Abu al-Zubayr who) said he was from Banu Amir bin Sa'sa'ah — he bought a load of leaves. When the sale became binding, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have the option." The Bedouin said: I have never seen a buyer who was also more understanding than you. From which tribe are you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "From Quraysh."
