Sunan ad-Daraqutni 2720 — on the virtue of Hajj and Umrah

Nafi' reports: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to say: Hajj and 'Umrah are obligatory upon all of Allah's creation, that is, upon those who have the means to reach there. Whoever does more after that, then it is goodness and a voluntary act of worship. The narrator reports: I heard him saying something regarding the people of Makkah.
It is narrated from Ikrimah that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Umrah is also obligatory upon a person just like Hajj, for the one who has the means to bear its expenses.
