بَابُ وُجُوبِ قِرَاءَةِ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَالْجَهْرِ بِهَا وَاخْتِلَافِ الرِّوَايَاتِ فِي ذَلِكَ

Sunan ad-Daraqutni 1156 — on the obligation of reciting Bismillah
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ شَيْبَانَ ، نا مَحْفُوظُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ ، ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أبِي ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ جَدِّهِ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَجْهَرُ بِبِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ فِي السُّورَتَيْنِ جَمِيعًا " .
Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite "Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem" aloud with both surahs.
