Narrated to us by Amr ibn Asim, narrated to us by Hammad ibn Salamah, from Asim, from Abu al-Ahwas, from Abdullah, that he said: "Indeed, everything has a hump, and the hump of the Qur'an is Surah al-Baqarah, and indeed, everything has a core, and the core of the Qur'an is al-Mufassal." Abu Muhammad said: The core (al-lubab) means the purest part.
