Hadith 3074

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ، أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ سَالِمٍ، عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ عُمَرَ، وَعَلِيٍّ، وَزَيْدٍ، قَالُوا: "الدِّيَةُ تُورَثُ كَمَا يُورَثُ الْمَالُ خَطَؤُهُ وَعَمْدُهُ".
It is narrated from Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Umar, Sayyiduna Ali, and Sayyiduna Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them) said: The inheritance of blood money will be distributed in the same way as the inheritance of wealth is distributed, whether the blood money is for accidental killing or for intentional killing.

From these narrations, it is established that the blood money (diyah) of the deceased will also be distributed among the heirs entitled to fixed shares (ashab al-furud) in the same manner as the estate is distributed; every rightful person will be given his due share.
