Hadith 2559

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tell me, if (the tribes of) Aslam and Ghifar are both better allies than Asad and Ghatafan, do you think that the latter would be at a loss and in ruin?" (i.e., the people of Asad and Ghatafan). The Companions replied: "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, they (Aslam and Ghifar) are better than them." Then he said: "Tell me, if Muzaynah and Juhaynah are better than Banu Tamim and Banu Amir bin Sa'sa'ah," then his voice became loud, "would the latter be in loss?" They replied: "Certainly, they would be ruined." He said: "They are better than them."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadiths 2557 to 2559)

During the era of ignorance (Jahiliyyah), the tribes of Juhaynah, Muzaynah, Aslam, and Ghifar were considered of lower status compared to the tribes of Banu Tamim, Banu Ghatafan, and Banu Amir ibn Sa’sa’ah, etc. Then, when Islam came, the first four tribes took the lead in accepting Islam, and thus, in honor and virtue, they surpassed the tribes of Banu Tamim and others.

From this hadith, the virtue and status of these tribes is established.
