Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Ahadith 2507 to 2509)
From this hadith, it is understood that the mounted fighter receives three shares and the foot soldier receives one share.
It is mentioned in Sahih Bukhari that two shares are for the horse and one share is for the owner of the horse.
Even if a person possesses several horses, he will still receive only three shares from the spoils of war (mal-e-ghanīmah).
The reason for allocating a greater share to the horse is that its care and feeding require considerable expenditure.
