Hadith 2506

أَخْبَرَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ زَيْدٍ وهُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ أَبِيهِ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَهُ، قَالَ: فَأُلِّفْتُ إِلَيْهِمْ . قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: الصَّوَابُ عِنْدِي مَا قَالَ زَكَرِيَّا فِي الْإِسْنَادِ.
Zaid bin Abi Anisah narrated from Qais bin Muslim, who narrated from Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila, who narrated from his father in a similar manner and said: I turned towards them (i.e., the nine individuals).
Imam Darimi, may Allah have mercy on him, said: The chain of Zakariya bin Adi is correct according to me.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Ahadith 2504 to 2506)
From this hadith, it is understood that until the spoils of war (mal-e-ghanīmah) are distributed, it is not permissible to take anything from them. This is why the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) ordered the pots to be overturned, because camels or other animals had been slaughtered before permission and before the distribution.
Then the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) allotted one goat to every ten people so that they could slaughter it and eat.
