Sunan ad-Darimi 248 — The Disappearance of Knowledge
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل، حَدَّثَنَا مَسْعُودُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ الْجُعْفِيُّ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رُبَيِّعَةَ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: "لَا يَزَالُ النَّاسُ بِخَيْرٍ مَا بَقِيَ الْأَوَّلُ حَتَّى يَتَعَلَّمَ أَوْ يُعَلِّمَ الْآخِرَ، فَإِنْ هَلَكَ الْأَوَّلُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُعَلِّمَ أَوْ يَتَعَلَّمَ الْآخِرُ، هَلَكَ النَّاسُ".
Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: As long as the former people continue to teach others and the latter continue to learn from them, goodness will remain. When the first perishes without teaching and the latter without learning, then the people will be destroyed.
