It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rafi‘ bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) that a camel became wild and ran away, and at that time the people had a few horses. So, one of the Companions shot an arrow at the camel and stopped it (from running away). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "These animals also become rebellious like wild beasts, so if any of these animals overpower you, then do the same with it."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2015)
That is, if any quadruped (animal) runs away in a frenzy, then kill it with an arrow, spear, bullet, etc., saying "Bismillah" (in the name of Allah); it will be lawful (halal). This is an emergency (idtirari) form of slaughter (dhakat). Its ruling is like that of (regular) slaughter (dhabh), that is, when one is not able to perform slaughter in the usual manner, then this can be done. (Wahidi, with adaptation).
