Hadith 1854

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are five animals whose killing carries no sin: the crow, the mouse, the kite, the scorpion, and the black dog (the biting dog)."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 1853)

It is explicitly stated in an authentic hadith that the aforementioned five harmful animals may be killed anywhere, whether within the sacred precincts (haram) or outside them. This hadith is coming ahead, and in al-Nasa'i it is mentioned: "There are five animals whose killing incurs no sin upon a person in the state of ihram."
