Sunan ad-Darimi 158 — Those Who Feared Giving Fatwa and Disliked
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: "تَعَلَّمُوا، فَإِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لَا يَدْرِي مَتَى يُخْتَلفُ إِلَيْهِ".
It is narrated from Abu Wa'il that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Acquire knowledge, for none of you knows when people will come to him for questions and fatwas.
