باب الْقِرَاءَةِ في رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ:Chapter: Recitation in the two rak‘ahs of Fajr

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي خَلَفٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ "يُصَلِّي بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ" . وَأَخْبَرَتْهُ حَفْصَةُ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ "يُصَلِّي إِذَا أَضَاءَ الصُّبْحُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ" ..
Salim narrated from his father, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer two units of Sunnah prayer after the Friday prayer, and Sayyida Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) informed him that when the true dawn would break, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer two units of Sunnah prayer.
Brief Explanation
(Explanation of Hadiths 1479 to 1483)
From all these narrations, it is established to perform two rak‘ahs of Sunnah before the Fajr prayer. Also, it is evident that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam used to perform these Sunnahs lightly, and after Surah al-Fatihah, he would recite «﴿قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ﴾» in the first rak‘ah and «﴿قُلْ هُوَ اللّٰهُ أَحَدٌ﴾» in the second rak‘ah.
