أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ "يَضَعُ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى الْيُسْرَى قَرِيبًا مِنْ الرُّسْغِ".
Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) placing his right hand over his left on the wrist ( «رُسغ» reached and refers to the joint of the wrist).
Brief Explanation

From this hadith, it is understood that in the standing position (qiyam), one should place the right hand over the left in the same manner. In the narration of Nasa’i, the word “qabz” (grasping) is used, meaning he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would grasp the left hand with the right hand.
