239 Chapter: Omitting the Salam in Prayer

نا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ قُرَّةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " حَذْفُ السَّلامِ سُنَّةٌ "
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is Sunnah to keep the greeting of Salam brief."
حَدَّثَنَاهُ حَدَّثَنَاهُ عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الرَّمْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَارَةُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ ، عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " حَذْفُ السَّلامِ سُنَّةٌ " . قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : رَوَاهُ عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، وَابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، عَنِ الْفِرْيَابِيِّ ، قَالُوا كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : حَذْفُ السَّلامِ سُنَّةٌ " . حَدَّثَنَاهُ أَبُو عَمَّارٍ ، نا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي صَفْوَانَ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، نا حَرَمِيُّ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ ، قَالا : نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، كُلُّهُمْ عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ
Hazrat Awza'i narrates from the mentioned chain from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that "To keep the greeting (salam) brief is Sunnah." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that this narration has been reported by Isa bin Yunus, Ibn Mubarak, and Muhammad bin Yahya from the chain of Faryabi from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "To keep the greeting (salam) brief is Sunnah."
