(168) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الْبَيَانِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَقْنُتُ دَهْرَهُ كُلَّهُ، وَإِنَّهُ إِنَّمَا كَانَ يَقْنُتُ إِذَا دَعَا لِأَحَدٍ، أَوْ يَدْعُو عَلَى أَحَدٍ.

نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَرْزُوقٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الأَنْصَارِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " لا يَقْنُتُ إِلا إِذَا دَعَا لِقَوْمٍ ، أَوْ دَعَا عَلَى قَوْمٍ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not recite Qunoot (continuously and always), except when he wished to supplicate for good for a people or to invoke against a people (then he would recite Qunoot).
