(392) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الدَّلِيلِ [عَلَى] أَنَّ دُخُولَ الْكَعْبَةِ لَيْسَ بِوَاجِبٍ

إِذِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ أَعْلَمَ بَعْدَ دُخُولِهِ إِيَّاهَا أَنَّهُ وَدَّ أَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ دَخَلَهَا مَخَافَةَ إِتْعَابِ أُمَّتِهِ بَعْدَهُ، وَهَذَا كَتَرْكِهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْضَ التَّطَوُّعِ وَالَّذِي كَانَ يُحِبُّ أَنْ يَفْعَلَهُ لِإِرَادَةِ التَّخْفِيفِ عَلَى أُمَّتِهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had entered it, he later informed that he wished he had not entered it, out of fear of burdening his ummah after him. And this is like his, peace and blessings be upon him, leaving off some voluntary acts, which he used to love to do, intending to make things easier for his ummah, peace and blessings be upon him.
حَدَّثَنَا سَلْمُ بْنُ جُنَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ عِنْدِي وَهُوَ قَرِيرُ الْعَيْنِ ، طَيِّبُ النَّفْسِ ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَيَّ وَهُوَ حَزِينٌ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، خَرَجْتَ مِنْ عِنْدِي ، وَأَنْتَ كَذَا وَكَذَا ، قَالَ : " إِنِّي دَخَلْتُ الْكَعْبَةَ ، وَدِدْتُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ فَعَلْتُ ، إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ أَكُونَ قَدْ أَتْعَبْتُ أُمَّتِي مِنْ بَعْدِي "
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) left from me in a very happy and cheerful state. Then he returned to me and he was very sad. I said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), you left me very happy and delighted, and now you appear sorrowful." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I entered the Sacred Ka'bah, and I wish that I had not entered it. I fear that I have put my Ummah into difficulty and hardship after me."
