Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 2704 — Disapproval of raising hands upon seeing
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا قَزْعَةَ الْبَاهِلِيَّ ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ الْمَكِّيِّ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَرَى الْبَيْتَ أَيَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ ، قَالَ : " مَا أَظُنُّ أَحَدًا يَفْعَلُ هَذَا إِلا الْيَهُودَ ، وَقَدْ حَجَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمْ يَكُنْ يَفْعَلُ هَذَا "
Hazrat Muhajir Makki narrates that it was asked from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) about the person who sees the Sacred House (the Ka'bah), should he raise his hands? He replied that in my opinion, only the Jews do this act, whereas we performed Hajj with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and he did not use to do this.
