Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 2113 — the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings)
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ أَبِي عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يَصُومُ يَوْمًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ اللَّهِ ، إِلا بَاعَدَ اللَّهُ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ وَبَيْنَ النَّارِ سَبْعِينَ خَرِيفًا "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever fasts for one day in the way of Allah, seeking Allah's pleasure, Allah will place a distance of seventy years between his face and the fire of Hell."
