Chapters on Voluntary Prayers while Sitting
(555) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الدَّلِيلِ عَلَى أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّمَا كَانَ يُكْثِرُ مِنَ التَّطَوُّعِ جَالِسًا وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ بِهِ مَرَضٌ بَعْدَمَا أَسَنَّ وَحَطَمَهُ النَّاسُ

حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، نَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا كَهْمَسٌ ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنِ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ ، كِلاهُمَا عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا ؟ قَالَتْ : بَعْدَمَا حَطَمَهُ النَّاسُ " . وَقَالَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ : قَالَتْ : نَعَمْ ، بَعْدَمَا حَطَمَهُ النَّاسُ
Hazrat Abdullah bin Shaqiq says that I asked Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray sitting?" She replied, "When the concerns of the people made the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) old, then after that he would pray (sitting)." The words of Janab Al-Dawraqi are that she said, "Yes, when the worries and concerns of the people made the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) old and weak, then after that (he would pray sitting)."
