Chapters on Water that is Pure and Impure
(86) بَابُ الرُّخْصَةِ فِي الْغُسْلِ وَالْوُضُوءِ مِنْ مَاءِ الْبَحْرِ، إِذْ مَاؤُهُ طَهُورٌ مَيْتَتُهُ حِلٌّ،
Chapter 86: Permission to wash and perform ablution with seawater, as its water is pure and its dead are lawful
Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 112 — 86: Permission to wash and perform ablution
نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ ، نا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ بْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مِقْسَمٍ ، قَالَ أَحْمَدُ : يَعْنِي عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْبَحْرِ ، قَالَ : " هُوَ الطَّهُورُ مَاؤُهُ ، وَالْحَلالُ مَيْتَتُهُ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was asked about the sea. He (peace be upon him) said: "Its water is pure and its dead (animals) are lawful."
