Sahih Ibn Hibban 3645 — Voluntary Fasting - Recommendation
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ النَّضْرِ الْخُلْقَانِيُّ ، بِمَرُوَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِيَ ، يَقُولُ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو حَمْزَةَ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ زِرٍّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصُومُ مِنْ غُرَّةِ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ ثَلاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ ، وَقَلَمَا يُفْطِرُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast three days in the bright days of every month, and it was very rare that he would not fast on a Friday.
