Sahih Ibn Hibban 1918 — on the Manner of Prayer – Permissibility
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلانَ ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : شَكَى أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَشَقَّةَ السُّجُودِ عَلَيْهِمْ ، فَقَالَ : " اسْتَعِينُوا بِالرُّكَبِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Some companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) complained to him about the difficulty during prostration, so he said: Seek assistance through your knees.
