«كان لا يخرج يوم الفطر حتى يطعم ولا يطعم يوم النحر حتى يذبح»
It was the practice of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
"He (peace and blessings be upon him) would not go out on the day of Eid al-Fitr without eating something, and on the day of Eid al-Adha he would not eat anything until he had offered the sacrifice."
