«كان إذا أراد أن ينام وهو جنب توضأ وضوءه للصلاة وإذا أراد أن يأكل أو يشرب وهو جنب غسل يديه ثم يأكل ويشرب»
It was the practice of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
"When he (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to sleep while in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah), he would perform ablution (wudu) like the ablution for prayer; and when he intended to eat or drink while in a state of janabah, he would wash his hands, then eat and drink."
