«قد دنت مني الجنة حتى لواجترأت عليها لجئتكم بقطاف من قطافها ودنت مني النار حتى قلت: أي رب وأنا معهم؟ فإذا امرأة تخدشها هرة قلت: ما شأن هذه؟ قالوا: حبستها حتى ماتت جوعا لا هي أطعمتها ولا أرسلتها تأكل من خشاش الأرض»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Paradise was brought so near to me that, had I dared to reach for it, I would have brought you a cluster from its fruits; and Hell was brought so near to me that I said: 'O Lord, am I with them too?' Then (suddenly) I saw a woman being clawed by a cat. I asked: 'What is her case?' It was said: 'She kept it (the cat) confined until it died of hunger; she neither fed it nor let it go so that it could eat the vermin of the earth.'"
