«الفجر فجران: فأما الفجر الذي يكون كذنب السرحان فلا يحل الصلاة ولا يحرم الطعام وأما الفجر الذي يذهب مستطيلا في الأفق فإنه يحل الصلاة ويحرم الطعام»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Dawn (fajr) is of two kinds: the dawn that is like the tail of a wolf, in which the prayer does not become permissible nor does food become forbidden; and the dawn that spreads out lengthwise across the horizon, in which the prayer becomes permissible and food becomes forbidden."
