Hadith 57
وحَدَّثَنِي حَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْمُطَّلِبِ ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ مَوْلَى مَيْمُونَةَ ، وَحُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ،
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) : A fornicator who fornicates is not a believer as long as he commits fornication, and no one who steals is a believer as long as he commits theft, and no one who drinks wine is a believer as long as he drinks it, and repentance may be accepted after that.
Hadith 183
وحَدَّثَنِي وحَدَّثَنِي سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي حَفْصُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، " أَنَّ نَاسًا فِي زَمَنِ ِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، هَلْ نَرَى رَبَّنَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : هَلْ تُضَارُّونَ فِي رُؤْيَةِ الشَّمْسِ بِالظَّهِيرَةِ ، صَحْوًا لَيْسَ مَعَهَا سَحَابٌ ؟ وَهَلْ تُضَارُّونَ فِي رُؤْيَةِ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ ، صَحْوًا لَيْسَ فِيهَا سَحَابٌ ؟ قَالُوا : لَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : مَا تُضَارُّونَ فِي رُؤْيَةِ اللَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، إِلَّا كَمَا تُضَارُّونَ فِي رُؤْيَةِ أَحَدِهِمَا ، إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ أَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنٌ لِيَتَّبِعْ كُلُّ أُمَّةٍ مَا كَانَتْ تَعْبُدُ ، فَلَا يَبْقَى أَحَدٌ كَانَ يَعْبُدُ غَيْرَ اللَّهِ سُبْحَانَهُ مِنَ الأَصْنَامِ ، وَالأَنْصَابِ ، إِلَّا يَتَسَاقَطُونَ فِي النَّارِ حَتَّى إِذَا لَمْ يَبْقَ إِلَّا مَنْ كَانَ يَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ مِنْ بَرٍّ ، وَفَاجِرٍ ، وَغُبَّرِ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ ، فَيُدْعَى الْيَهُودُ ، فَيُقَالُ لَهُمْ : مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ ؟ قَالُوا : كُنَّا نَعْبُدُ عُزَيْرَ ابْنَ اللَّهِ ، فَيُقَالُ : كَذَبْتُمْ ، مَا اتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ مِنْ صَاحِبَةٍ ، وَلَا وَلَدٍ ، فَمَاذَا تَبْغُونَ ؟ قَالُوا : عَطِشْنَا يَا رَبَّنَا فَاسْقِنَا ، فَيُشَارُ إِلَيْهِمْ أَلَا تَرِدُونَ ، فَيُحْشَرُونَ إِلَى النَّارِ ، كَأَنَّهَا سَرَابٌ يَحْطِمُ بَعْضُهَا بَعْضًا ، فَيَتَسَاقَطُونَ فِي النَّارِ ، ثُمَّ يُدْعَى النَّصَارَى ، فَيُقَالُ لَهُمْ : مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ ؟ قَالُوا : كُنَّا نَعْبُدُ الْمَسِيحَ ابْنَ اللَّهِ ، فَيُقَالُ لَهُمْ : كَذَبْتُمْ ، مَا اتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ مِنْ صَاحِبَةٍ ، وَلَا وَلَدٍ ، فَيُقَالُ لَهُمْ : مَاذَا تَبْغُونَ ؟ فَيَقُولُونَ : عَطِشْنَا يَا رَبَّنَا فَاسْقِنَا ، قَالَ : فَيُشَارُ إِلَيْهِمْ ، أَلَا تَرِدُونَ ، فَيُحْشَرُونَ إِلَى جَهَنَّمَ ، كَأَنَّهَا سَرَابٌ يَحْطِمُ بَعْضُهَا بَعْضًا ، فَيَتَسَاقَطُونَ فِي النَّارِ ، حَتَّى إِذَا لَمْ يَبْقَ إِلَّا مَنْ كَانَ يَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى مِنْ بَرٍّ ، وَفَاجِرٍ ، أَتَاهُمْ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى فِي أَدْنَى صُورَةٍ مِنَ الَّتِي رَأَوْهُ فِيهَا ، قَالَ : فَمَا تَنْتَظِرُونَ ، تَتْبَعُ كُلُّ أُمَّةٍ مَا كَانَتْ تَعْبُدُ ، قَالُوا : يَا رَبَّنَا ، فَارَقْنَا النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا ، أَفْقَرَ مَا كُنَّا إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَمْ نُصَاحِبْهُمْ ، فَيَقُولُ : أَنَا رَبُّكُمْ ، فَيَقُولُونَ : نَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْكَ ، لَا نُشْرِكُ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا ، مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا ، حَتَّى إِنَّ بَعْضَهُمْ لَيَكَادُ أَنْ يَنْقَلِبَ ، فَيَقُولُ : هَلْ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُ آيَةٌ فَتَعْرِفُونَهُ بِهَا ؟ فَيَقُولُونَ : نَعَمْ ، فَيُكْشَفُ عَنْ سَاقٍ ، فَلَا يَبْقَى مَنْ كَانَ يَسْجُدُ لِلَّهِ مِنْ تِلْقَاءِ نَفْسِهِ ، إِلَّا أَذِنَ اللَّهُ لَهُ بِالسُّجُودِ ، وَلَا يَبْقَى مَنْ كَانَ يَسْجُدُ اتِّقَاءً وَرِيَاءً ، إِلَّا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ ظَهْرَهُ طَبَقَةً وَاحِدَةً ، كُلَّمَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَسْجُدَ ، خَرَّ عَلَى قَفَاهُ ، ثُمَّ يَرْفَعُونَ رُءُوسَهُمْ وَقَدْ تَحَوَّلَ فِي صُورَتِهِ الَّتِي رَأَوْهُ فِيهَا أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ، فَقَالَ : أَنَا رَبُّكُمْ ، فَيَقُولُونَ : أَنْتَ رَبُّنَا ، ثُمَّ يُضْرَبُ الْجِسْرُ عَلَى جَهَنَّمَ ، وَتَحِلُّ الشَّفَاعَةُ ، وَيَقُولُونَ : اللَّهُمَّ سَلِّمْ سَلِّمْ ، قِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَمَا الْجِسْرُ ؟ قَالَ : دَحْضٌ مَزِلَّةٌ فِيهِ خَطَاطِيفُ ، وَكَلَالِيبُ ، وَحَسَكٌ تَكُونُ بِنَجْدٍ فِيهَا شُوَيْكَةٌ ، يُقَالُ لَهَا : السَّعْدَانُ ، فَيَمُرُّ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ كَطَرْفِ الْعَيْنِ ، وَكَالْبَرْقِ ، وَكَالرِّيحِ ، وَكَالطَّيْرِ ، وَكَأَجَاوِيدِ الْخَيْلِ وَالرِّكَابِ ، فَنَاجٍ مُسَلَّمٌ ، وَمَخْدُوشٌ مُرْسَلٌ ، وَمَكْدُوسٌ فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ ، حَتَّى إِذَا خَلَصَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ مِنَ النَّارِ ، فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ ، مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ بِأَشَدَّ مُنَاشَدَةً لِلَّهِ فِي اسْتِقْصَاءِ الْحَقِّ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، لِلَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لِإِخْوَانِهِمُ الَّذِينَ فِي النَّارِ ، يَقُولُونَ : رَبَّنَا كَانُوا يَصُومُونَ مَعَنَا ، وَيُصَلُّونَ ، وَيَحُجُّونَ ، فَيُقَالُ لَهُمْ : أَخْرِجُوا مَنْ عَرَفْتُمْ ، فَتُحَرَّمُ صُوَرُهُمْ عَلَى النَّار ، فَيُخْرِجُونَ خَلْقًا كَثِيرًا قَدْ أَخَذَتِ النَّارُ إِلَى نِصْفِ سَاقَيْهِ وَإِلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُونَ : رَبَّنَا مَا بَقِيَ فِيهَا أَحَدٌ مِمَّنْ أَمَرْتَنَا بِهِ ، فَيَقُولُ : ارْجِعُوا ، فَمَنْ وَجَدْتُمْ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالَ دِينَارٍ مِنْ خَيْرٍ ، فَأَخْرِجُوهُ فَيُخْرِجُونَ خَلْقًا كَثِيرًا ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُونَ : رَبَّنَا لَمْ نَذَرْ فِيهَا أَحَدًا مِمَّنْ أَمَرْتَنَا ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : ارْجِعُوا فَمَنْ وَجَدْتُمْ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالَ نِصْفِ دِينَارٍ مِنَ خَيْرٍ فَأَخْرِجُوهُ ، فَيُخْرِجُونَ خَلْقًا كَثِيرًا ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُونَ : رَبَّنَا لَمْ نَذَرْ فِيهَا مِمَّنْ أَمَرْتَنَا أَحَدًا ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : ارْجِعُوا فَمَنْ وَجَدْتُمْ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ مِنْ خَيْر ، فَأَخْرِجُوهُ فَيُخْرِجُونَ خَلْقًا كَثِيرًا ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُونَ : رَبَّنَا لَمْ نَذَرْ فِيهَا خَيْرًا ، وَكَانَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ ، يَقُولُ : إِنْ لَمْ تُصَدِّقُونِي بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، فَاقْرَءُوا إِنْ شِئْتُمْ : إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يَظْلِمُ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ وَإِنْ تَكُ حَسَنَةً يُضَاعِفْهَا وَيُؤْتِ مِنْ لَدُنْهُ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا سورة النساء آية 40 ، فَيَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : شَفَعَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ ، وَشَفَعَ النَّبِيُّونَ ، وَشَفَعَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ ، وَلَمْ يَبْقَ إِلَّا أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ ، فَيَقْبِضُ قَبْضَةً مِنَ النَّارِ ، فَيُخْرِجُ مِنْهَا قَوْمًا لَمْ يَعْمَلُوا خَيْرًا قَطُّ ، قَدْ عَادُوا حُمَمًا ، فَيُلْقِيهِمْ فِي نَهَرٍ فِي أَفْوَاهِ الْجَنَّةِ ، يُقَالُ لَهُ : نَهَرُ الْحَيَاةِ ، فَيَخْرُجُونَ كَمَا تَخْرُجُ الْحِبَّةُ فِي حَمِيلِ السَّيْلِ أَلَا تَرَوْنَهَا تَكُونُ إِلَى الْحَجَرِ أَوْ إِلَى الشَّجَرِ ، مَا يَكُونُ إِلَى الشَّمْسِ ، أُصَيْفِرُ ، وَأُخَيْضِرُ ، وَمَا يَكُونُ مِنْهَا إِلَى الظِّلِّ يَكُونُ أَبْيَضَ ، فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، كَأَنَّكَ كُنْتَ تَرْعَى بِالْبَادِيَةِ ؟ قَالَ : فَيَخْرُجُونَ كَاللُّؤْلُؤِ فِي رِقَابِهِمُ الْخَوَاتِمُ ، يَعْرِفُهُمْ أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ هَؤُلَاءِ عُتَقَاءُ اللَّهِ الَّذِينَ أَدْخَلَهُمُ اللَّهُ الْجَنَّةَ بِغَيْرِ عَمَلٍ عَمِلُوهُ ، وَلَا خَيْرٍ قَدَّمُوهُ ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : ادْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ ، فَمَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُ فَهُوَ لَكُمْ ، فَيَقُولُونَ : رَبَّنَا أَعْطَيْتَنَا مَا لَمْ تُعْطِ أَحَدًا مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ ؟ فَيَقُولُ : لَكُمْ عِنْدِي أَفْضَلُ مِنْ هَذَا ، فَيَقُولُونَ : يَا رَبَّنَا ، أَيُّ شَيْءٍ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ هَذَا ؟ فَيَقُولُ : رِضَايَ ، فَلَا أَسْخَطُ عَلَيْكُمْ بَعْدَهُ أَبَدًا .
Hafs bin Maisarah narrated from Zaid bin Aslam, who narrated from Ata bin Yasar, and he narrated from Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that some people asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) during his time: "O Messenger of Allah! Will we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." He said: "Do you have any difficulty seeing the sun at noon when the sky is clear and there are no clouds?" And he said: "Do you have any difficulty seeing the full moon on a clear night when there are no clouds?" The companions said: "O Messenger of Allah! No!" He said: "On the Day of Resurrection, you will have no more difficulty seeing Allah, Blessed and Exalted, than you have in seeing either of these." When the Day of Resurrection comes, a caller will announce: 'Every nation should follow what it used to worship.' No one will remain who used to worship idols and stones besides Allah except that he will fall into the Fire, until only those who worshipped Allah remain, whether righteous or wicked, and none will remain except the remnants of the People of the Book (from later times). Then the Jews will be called and it will be said to them: 'What did you worship?' They will say: 'We worshipped Uzair, the son of Allah.' It will be said: 'You have lied, Allah did not take a wife nor a son. So what do you want now?' They will say: 'O Lord! We are thirsty, give us water to drink.' They will be pointed to: 'Why don't you go to the water?' Then they will be gathered and driven towards the Fire, which will appear like a mirage, one part destroying the other, and they will all fall into the Fire one after another. Then the Christians will be called and it will be said to them: 'What did you worship?' They will say: 'We worshipped the Messiah, the son of Allah.' It will be said to them: 'You have lied, Allah did not take a wife nor a son.' Then it will be said to them: 'What do you want now?' They will say: 'We are thirsty, our Lord! Give us water to drink.' He said: "They will be pointed to: 'Why don't you go to the water?' Then they will be gathered and driven towards Hell, which will appear like a mirage, one part (in its intensity) destroying the other, and they will all fall into the Fire one after another, until none remain except those who worshipped Allah, whether righteous or wicked. Then the Lord of all worlds, Glorified and Exalted, will come to them in a form less than (or different from) the one they had seen before and will say: 'What are you waiting for? Every nation has gone after what it used to worship.' They (turning away from the apparent form and turning to their Lord) will plead: 'O our Lord! We separated ourselves from all people in the world, no matter how much we needed them, we did not join them.' He will say: 'I am your Lord.' They will say: 'We seek refuge with Allah from you, we will not associate anyone with Allah.' (They will say this two or three times) until some of them are about to change, then He will say: 'Is there any sign between you and Him by which you can recognize Him?' They will reply: 'Yes!' Then the Shin will be uncovered, and none will remain who used to prostrate to Allah from his heart except that Allah will allow him to prostrate, and none will remain who used to prostrate out of fear of people or for show except that Allah will make his back one solid piece, whenever he tries to prostrate he will fall on his back. Then they will raise their heads and Allah will have come in the form in which they first saw Him and He will say: 'I am your Lord.' They will say: '(Yes) You are our Lord.' Then the bridge will be laid over Hell and the door of intercession will be opened, and (all the Messengers) will be saying: 'O Allah! Grant safety, grant safety.'” It was asked: "O Messenger of Allah! What is the bridge (Sirat)?" He said: "It is a slippery, shaky place, with hooks that snatch and thorns with many prongs, and there are thorny plants like those in Najd called Sa'dan. So the believers will pass over it as quickly as the blink of an eye, or like lightning, or like the wind, or like birds, or like fast horses and mounts. Some will be saved unharmed, some will be scratched and let go, and some will be piled up in the Fire, layer upon layer, until when the believers are saved from the Fire—by the One in Whose hand is my soul! None of you will plead with Allah more earnestly for his full right to be given than the believers will plead on the Day of Resurrection for their brothers who are in the Fire. They will say: 'O our Lord! They used to fast with us, pray with us, and perform Hajj with us.' It will be said to them: 'Take out those whom you recognize.' Their faces will be forbidden to the Fire. So they will bring out many people whom the Fire had reached up to their shins or knees. Then they will say: 'O our Lord! None of those whom You commanded us to take out remains in the Fire.' He will say: 'Go back, and bring out anyone in whose heart you find faith equal to a dinar.' So they will bring out a great number of people. Then they will say: 'O our Lord! None of those whom You commanded us to take out remains in the Fire.' He will say: 'Go back, and bring out anyone in whose heart you find faith equal to half a dinar.' So they will bring out a great number of people. Then they will say: 'O our Lord! None of those whom You commanded us to take out remains in the Fire.' He will say: 'Go back, and bring out anyone in whose heart you find faith equal to a mustard seed.' So they will bring out a great number of people. Then they will say: 'O our Lord! We have not left anyone with any good in him in the Fire.'" (Faith can be as little as a mustard seed.) Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: "If you do not believe me in this hadith, then if you wish, recite this verse: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ ۖ وَإِن تَكُ حَسَنَةً يُضَاعِفْهَا وَيُؤْتِ مِن لَّدُنْهُ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا» 'Indeed, Allah does not wrong even the weight of a speck, and if there is a good deed, He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward.'" He said: "Then Allah, the Exalted, will say: 'The angels have interceded, the Prophets have interceded, the believers have interceded, and none remains except the Most Merciful of the merciful.' So He will take a handful from the Fire and bring out people who never did any good, and they will have become charcoal, then He will throw them into a river at the entrance of Paradise called the River of Life, and they will grow out (from it) as a seed grows in the silt carried by a flood. Do you not see that it sometimes clings to a stone or a tree? That which is exposed to the sun is yellow and green, and that which is in the shade is white?" The companions said: "O Messenger of Allah! It seems you used to graze animals in the wilderness?" He said: "So those people will come out (of the river) like pearls, with seals on their necks. The people of Paradise will recognize them (later) as those whom Allah has freed, whom Allah admitted to Paradise without any deed they did or any good they sent forth. Then He will say: 'Enter Paradise, and whatever you see is yours.' They will say: 'O our Lord! You have given us what You have not given to anyone among the worlds.' He will say: 'Shall I not give you something better than that?' He will say: 'My pleasure, for after that I will never be angry with you.'"
Hadith 183
قَالَ مُسْلِم : قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عِيسَى بْنِ حَمَّادٍ زُغْبَةَ الْمِصْرِيِّ ، هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ فِي الشَّفَاعَةِ ، وَقُلْتُ لَهُ : أُحَدِّثُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ عَنْكَ ، أَنَّكَ سَمِعْتَ مِنَ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ؟ فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قُلْتُ لِعِيسَى بْنِ حَمَّادٍ : أَخْبَرَكُمُ اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِلَالٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : قُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَنَرَى رَبَّنَا ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : هَلْ تُضَارُّونَ فِي رُؤْيَةِ الشَّمْسِ إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمٌ صَحْوٌ ؟ قُلْنَا : لَا " ، وَسُقْتُ الْحَدِيثَ حَتَّى انْقَضَى آخِرُهُ وَهُوَ نَحْوُ حَدِيثِ حَفْصِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ ، وَزَادَ بَعْدَ قَوْلِهِ : بِغَيْرِ عَمَلٍ عَمِلُوهُ وَلَا قَدَمٍ قَدَّمُوهُ ، فَيُقَالُ لَهُمْ : لَكُمْ مَا رَأَيْتُمْ وَمِثْلُهُ مَعَهُ ، قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ : بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ الْجِسْرَ ، أَدَقُّ مِنَ الشَّعْرَةِ وَأَحَدُّ مِنَ السَّيْفِ ، وَلَيْسَ فِي حَدِيثِ اللَّيْثِ ، فَيَقُولُونَ : رَبَّنَا أَعْطَيْتَنَا مَا لَمْ تُعْطِ أَحَدًا مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ وَمَا بَعْدَهُ ، فَأَقَرَّ بِهِ عِيسَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ .
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RA) : We said: Messenger of Allah, shall we see our Lord? The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Do you feel any trouble in seeing the sun on a cloudless day? We said: No. And the remaining part of the hadith has been narrated to the end like the hadith transmitted by Hafs bin Maisara with the addition of these words: Without the deed that they did or any good that they had sent before. It would be said to them: For you is whatever you see (in it) and with it the like of it. Abu Sa'id said: I have come to know that the bridge would be thinner even than the hair and sharper than the sword; and in the hadith narrated by Laith these words are not found: They would say, O our Lord! Thou hast bestowed upon us (favours) which thou didst not bestow on anyone else in the world.
Hadith 347
وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حميد ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ جَدِّي ، عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ ذَكْوَانَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّ عَطَاءَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ ، " أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أَرَأَيْتَ إِذَا جَامَعَ الرَّجُلُ امْرَأَتَهُ ، وَلَمْ يُمْنِ ؟ قَالَ عُثْمَانُ : " يَتَوَضَّأُ كَمَا يَتَوَضَّأُ لِلصَّلَاةِ وَيَغْسِلُ ذَكَرَهُ " ، قَالَ عُثْمَانُ : سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Zaid bin Khalid al-Jubani reported that he askad 'Uthman bin 'Affan: What is your opinion about the man who has sexual intercourse with his wife, but does not experience orgasm? 'Uthman said: He should perform ablution as he does for prayer, and wash his organ. 'Uthmin also said: I have heard it from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) .
Hadith 354
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ قَعْنَبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَكَلَ كَتِفَ شَاةٍ ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى ، وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ " .
Ibn 'Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) took meat of goat's shoulder and offered prayer and did not perform ablution.
Hadith 537
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَتَقَارَبَا فِي لَفْظِ الْحَدِيثِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ الصَّوَّافِ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ السُّلَمِيِّ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَا أَنَا أُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِذْ عَطَسَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَرْحَمُكَ اللَّهُ ، فَرَمَانِي الْقَوْمُ بِأَبْصَارِهِمْ ، فَقُلْتُ : وَا ثُكْلَ أُمِّيَاهْ ، مَا شَأْنُكُمْ تَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيَّ ؟ فَجَعَلُوا يَضْرِبُونَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ عَلَى أَفْخَاذِهِمْ ، فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُهُمْ يُصَمِّتُونَنِي ، لَكِنِّي سَكَتُّ ، فَلَمَّا صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَبِأَبِي هُوَ وَأُمِّي ، مَا رَأَيْتُ مُعَلِّمًا قَبْلَهُ ، وَلَا بَعْدَهُ أَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمًا مِنْهُ ، فَوَاللَّهِ مَا كَهَرَنِي وَلَا ضَرَبَنِي وَلَا شَتَمَنِي ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةَ ، لَا يَصْلُحُ فِيهَا شَيْءٌ مِنْ كَلَامِ النَّاسِ ، إِنَّمَا هُوَ التَّسْبِيحُ وَالتَّكْبِيرُ وَقِرَاءَةُ الْقُرْآنِ " ، أَوْ كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ ، وَقَدْ جَاءَ اللَّهُ بِالإِسْلَامِ ، وَإِنَّ مِنَّا رِجَالًا يَأْتُونَ الْكُهَّانَ ، قَالَ : فَلَا تَأْتِهِمْ ، قَالَ : وَمِنَّا رِجَالٌ يَتَطَيَّرُونَ ، قَالَ : ذَاكَ شَيْءٌ يَجِدُونَهُ فِي صُدُورِهِمْ ، فَلَا يَصُدَّنَّهُمْ ، قَالَ ابْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ : فَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكُمْ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : وَمِنَّا رِجَالٌ يَخُطُّونَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ نَبِيٌّ مِنَ الأَنْبِيَاءِ يَخُطُّ ، فَمَنْ وَافَقَ خَطَّهُ ، فَذَاكَ ، قَالَ : وَكَانَتْ لِي جَارِيَةٌ ، تَرْعَى غَنَمًا لِي قِبَلَ أُحُدٍ وَالْجَوَّانِيَّةِ ، فَاطَّلَعْتُ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ ، فَإِذَا الذِّيبُ قَدْ ذَهَبَ بِشَاةٍ مِنْ غَنَمِهَا ، وَأَنَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي آدَمَ ، آسَفُ كَمَا يَأْسَفُونَ ، لَكِنِّي صَكَكْتُهَا صَكَّةً ، فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَعَظَّمَ ذَلِكَ عَلَيَّ ، قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَفَلَا أُعْتِقُهَا ؟ قَالَ : ائْتِنِي بِهَا ، فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِهَا ، فَقَالَ لَهَا : أَيْنَ اللَّهُ ؟ قَالَتْ : فِي السَّمَاءِ ، قَالَ : مَنْ أَنَا ؟ قَالَتْ : أَنْتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : أَعْتِقْهَا ، فَإِنَّهَا مُؤْمِنَةٌ .
Mu'awiyah bin al-Hakam said: While I was praying with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) , a man in the company sneezed. I said: Allah have mercy on you! The people stared at me with disapproving looks, so I said: Woe be upon me, why is it that you stare at me? They began to strike their hands on their thighs, and when I saw them urging me to observe silence (I became angry) but I said nothing. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had said the prayer (and I declare that neither before him nor after him have I seen a leader who gave better instruction than he for whom I would give my father and mother as ransom). I swear that he did not scold, beat or revile me but said: Talking to persons is not fitting during the prayer, for it consists of glorifying Allah, declaring his Greatness. and recitation of the Qur'an or words to that effect. I said: Messenger of Allah. I was till recently a pagan, but Allah has brought Islam to us; among us there are men who have recourse to Kahins. He said, Do not have recourse to them. I said. There are men who take omens. That is something which they find in their breasts, but let it not turn their way (from freedom of action). I said: Among us there are men who draw lines. He said: There was a prophet who drew lines, so if they do it as they did, that is allowable. I had a maid-servant who tended goats by the side of Uhud and Jawwaniya. One day I happened to pass that way and found that a wolf had carried a goat from her flock. I am after all a man from the posterity of Adam. I felt sorry as they (human beings) feel sorry. So I slapped her. I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and felt (this act of mine) as something grievous I said: Messenger of Allah, should I not grant her freedom? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Bring her to me. So I brought her to him. He said to her: Where is Allah? She said: He is in the heaven. He said: Who am I? She said: Thou art the Messenger of Allah. He said: Grant her freedom, she is a believing woman.
Hadith 571
وَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي خَلَفٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا شَكَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ ، فَلَمْ يَدْرِ كَمْ صَلَّى ، ثَلَاثًا ، أَمْ أَرْبَعًا ، فَلْيَطْرَحِ الشَّكَّ ، وَلْيَبْنِ عَلَى مَا اسْتَيْقَنَ ، ثُمَّ يَسْجُدُ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ، قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ ، فَإِنْ كَانَ صَلَّى خَمْسًا ، شَفَعْنَ لَهُ صَلَاتَهُ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ صَلَّى إِتْمَامًا لِأَرْبَعٍ ، كَانَتَا تَرْغِيمًا لِلشَّيْطَانِ " .
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: When any one of you is in doubt about his prayer and he does not know how much he has prayed, three or four (rak'ahs). he should cast aside his doubt and base his prayer on what he is sure of. then perform two prostrations before giving salutations. If he has prayed five rak'ahs, they will make his prayer an even number for him, and if he has prayed exactly four, they will be humiliation for the devil.
Hadith 577
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وابْنُ حُجْرٍ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وَقَالَ الآخَرُونَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل وَهُوَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُصَيْفَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ قُسَيْطٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنِ الْقِرَاءَةِ مَعَ الإِمَامِ ، فَقَالَ : " لَا قِرَاءَةَ مَعَ الإِمَامِ فِي شَيْءٍ ، وَزَعَمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَرَأَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَى فَلَمْ يَسْجُدْ " .
'Ata' bin Yasar reported that he had asked Zaid bin Thabit about recital along with the Imam, to which he said: There should be no recital along with the Imam in anything, and alleged that he recited: "By the star when it sets" (Surah Najm) before the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he did not prostrate himself.
Hadith 608
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، وَعَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، وَعَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، حَدَّثُوهُ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ أَدْرَكَ رَكْعَةً مِنَ الصُّبْحِ ، قَبْلَ أَنْ تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ ، فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ الصُّبْحَ ، وَمَنْ أَدْرَكَ رَكْعَةً مِنَ الْعَصْرِ ، قَبْلَ أَنْ تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ ، فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ الْعَصْرَ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: He who finds one rak'ah at dawn before the rising of the sun, he in fact finds the dawn prayer. and he who finds one rak'ah of the afternoon prayer before sunset, he in fact finds the afternoon prayer.
Hadith 669
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُطَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، " مَنْ غَدَا إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ أَوْ رَاحَ ، أَعَدَّ اللَّهُ لَهُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ نُزُلًا ، كُلَّمَا غَدَا أَوْ رَاحَ " .
Ata' bin Yasar reported, on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) , the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: He who went towards the mosque in the morning or evening, Allah would arrange a feast for him morning or evening in Paradise.
Hadith 710
وحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ وَرْقَاءَ ، عَنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ ، فَلَا صَلَاةَ إِلَّا الْمَكْتُوبَةُ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: When the prayer commences then there is no prayer (valid), but the obligatory prayer. This hadith has been narrated by Warqa' with the same chain of transmitters.
Hadith 710
وحَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ حَبِيبٍ الْحَارِثِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّاءُ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَطَاءَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ ، يَقُولُ : عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ ، فَلَا صَلَاةَ إِلَّا الْمَكْتُوبَةُ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: When the prayer commences, there is no prayer but the obligatory one.
Hadith 710
وحَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمِثْلِهِ ، قَالَ حَمَّادٌ : ثُمَّ لَقِيتُ عَمْرًا ، فَحَدَّثَنِي بِهِ وَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ .
This hadith has been narrated by Abu Hurairah (RA) with another chain of transmitters. Hammad (one of the narrators) said: I then met 'Amr (the other narrator) and he narrated it to me, but it was not transmitted directly from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) .
Hadith 846
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " الْغُسْلُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَاجِبٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُحْتَلِمٍ " .
Sa'id al-Khudri reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Taking a bath on Friday is essential for every adult person.
Hadith 907
حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالنَّاسُ مَعَهُ ، فَقَامَ قِيَامًا طَوِيلًا قَدْرَ نَحْوِ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ رُكُوعًا طَوِيلًا ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ فَقَامَ قِيَامًا طَوِيلًا وَهُوَ دُونَ الْقِيَامِ الْأَوَّلِ ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ رُكُوعًا طَوِيلًا وَهُوَ دُونَ الرُّكُوعِ الْأَوَّلِ ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ ثُمَّ قَامَ قِيَامًا طَوِيلًا وَهُوَ دُونَ الْقِيَامِ الْأَوَّلِ ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ رُكُوعًا طَوِيلًا وَهُوَ دُونَ الرُّكُوعِ الْأَوَّلِ ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ فَقَامَ قِيَامًا طَوِيلًا وَهُوَ دُونَ الْقِيَامِ الْأَوَّلِ ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ رُكُوعًا طَوِيلًا وَهُوَ دُونَ الرُّكُوعِ الْأَوَّلِ ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ ، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ وَقَدِ انْجَلَتِ الشَّمْسُ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ ، لَا يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ وَلَا لِحَيَاتِهِ ، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ ذَلِكَ فَاذْكُرُوا اللَّهَ " . قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ رَأَيْنَاكَ تَنَاوَلْتَ شَيْئًا فِي مَقَامِكَ هَذَا ، ثُمَّ رَأَيْنَاكَ كَفَفْتَ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ الْجَنَّةَ فَتَنَاوَلْتُ مِنْهَا عُنْقُودًا ، وَلَوْ أَخَذْتُهُ لَأَكَلْتُمْ مِنْهُ مَا بَقِيَتِ الدُّنْيَا ، وَرَأَيْتُ النَّارَ فَلَمْ أَرَ كَالْيَوْمِ مَنْظَرًا قَطُّ ، وَرَأَيْتُ أَكْثَرَ أَهْلِهَا النِّسَاءَ " ، قَالُوا : بِمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " بِكُفْرِهِنَّ " . قِيلَ أَيَكْفُرْنَ بِاللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " بِكُفْرِ الْعَشِيرِ ، وَبِكُفْرِ الْإِحْسَانِ ، لَوْ أَحْسَنْتَ إِلَى إِحْدَاهُنَّ الدَّهْرَ ، ثُمَّ رَأَتْ مِنْكَ شَيْئًا ، قَالَتْ : مَا رَأَيْتُ مِنْكَ خَيْرًا قَطُّ " .
Ibn 'Abbas reported: There was an eclipse of the sun during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) . The Messenger of Allah, (ﷺ) prayed accompanied by the people. He stood for a long time, about as long as it would take to recite Surah al-Baqarah; then he bowed for a long time; then he raised his head and stood for a long time, but it was less than the first qiyam. He then bowed for a long time but for a shorter while than the first. He then prostrated and then stood for a long time, but it was less than the first qiyam. He then bowed for a long time, but it was less than the first bowing. He then raised (his head) and stood for a long time, but it was less than the first qiyam. He then bowed for a long time but it was less than the first bowing. He then observed prostration, and then he finished, and the sun had cleared (by that time). He (the Holy Prophet) then said: The sun and moon are two signs from the signs of Allah. These two do not eclipse on account of the death of anyone or on account of the birth of anyone. So when you see that, remember Allah. They (his Companions) said: Messenger of Allah, we saw you reach out to something, while you were standing here, then we saw you restrain yourself. He said: I saw Paradise and reached out to a bunch of its grapes; and had I taken it you would have eaten of it as long as the world endured. I saw Hell also. No such (abominable) sight have I ever seen as that which I saw today; and I observed that most of its inhabitants were women. They said: Messenger of Allah, on what account is it so? He said: For their ingratitude or disbelief (bi-kufraihinna). It was said: Do they disbelieve in Allah? He said: (Not for their disbelief in God) but for their ingratitude to their husbands and ingratitude to kindness. If you were to treat one of them kindly for ever, but if she later saw anything (displeasing) in you, she would say: I have never seen any good in you.
Hadith 974
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى التَّمِيمِيُّ ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ شَرِيكٍ وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي نَمِرٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كُلَّمَا كَانَ لَيْلَتُهَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ إِلَى الْبَقِيعِ ، فَيَقُولُ : " السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ دَارَ قَوْمٍ مُؤْمِنِينَ ، وَأَتَاكُمْ مَا تُوعَدُونَ ، غَدًا مُؤَجَّلُونَ ، وَإِنَّا إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ بِكُمْ لَاحِقُونَ ، اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِأَهْلِ بَقِيعِ الْغَرْقَدِ " ، وَلَمْ يُقِمْ قُتَيْبَةُ قَوْلَهُ : وَأَتَاكُمْ .
'A'isha reported (that whenever it was her turn for Allah's Messenger [may peace be upon him] to spend the night with her) he would go out towards the end of the night to al-Baqi' and say: Peace be upon you, abode of a people who are believers. What you were promised would come to you tomorrow, you receiving it after some delay; and God willing we shall join you. O Allah, grant forgiveness to the inhabitants of Baqi' al-Gharqad. Qutaiba did not mention his words:" would come to you".
Hadith 1039
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ ابْنُ أَيُّوبَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ مَوْلَى مَيْمُونَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ بِالَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ التَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ ، وَلَا اللُّقْمَةُ وَاللُّقْمَتَانِ ، إِنَّمَا الْمِسْكِينُ الْمُتَعَفِّفُ ، اقْرَءُوا إِنْ شِئْتُمْ لا يَسْأَلُونَ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا سورة البقرة آية 273 " ،
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Miskin is not he who is dismissed with one or two dates, and with one morsel or two morsels. (In fact) miskin is he who abstains (from begging). Read if you so desire (the verse): "They beg not of men importunately)" (ii. 273).
Hadith 1039
وحَدَّثَنِيهِ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إسحاق ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي شَرِيكٌ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ ، أنهما سمعا أبا هريرة ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ .
This hadith has been narrated through another chain of transmitters.
Hadith 1052
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَخْوَفُ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ مَا يُخْرِجُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ مِنْ زَهْرَةِ الدُّنْيَا " ، قَالُوا : وَمَا زَهْرَةُ الدُّنْيَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : " بَرَكَاتُ الْأَرْضِ " ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَهَلْ يَأْتِي الْخَيْرُ بِالشَّرِّ ؟ قَالَ : " لَا يَأْتِي الْخَيْرُ إِلَّا بِالْخَيْرِ ، لَا يَأْتِي الْخَيْرُ إِلَّا بِالْخَيْرِ ، لَا يَأْتِي الْخَيْرُ إِلَّا بِالْخَيْرِ ، إِنَّ كُلَّ مَا أَنْبَتَ الرَّبِيعُ يَقْتُلُ أَوْ يُلِمُّ ، إِلَّا آكِلَةَ الْخَضِرِ ، فَإِنَّهَا تَأْكُلُ حَتَّى إِذَا امْتَدَّتْ خَاصِرَتَاهَا اسْتَقْبَلَتِ الشَّمْسَ ، ثُمَّ اجْتَرَّتْ وَبَالَتْ وَثَلَطَتْ ، ثُمَّ عَادَتْ فَأَكَلَتْ ، إِنَّ هَذَا الْمَالَ خَضِرَةٌ حُلْوَةٌ فَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِحَقِّهِ وَوَضَعَهُ فِي حَقِّهِ ، فَنِعْمَ الْمَعُونَةُ هُوَ ، وَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِغَيْرِ حَقِّهِ كَانَ كَالَّذِي يَأْكُلُ وَلَا يَشْبَعُ " .
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had said: The most dreadful thing I fear in your case is what Allah brings forth for you in the form of the adornment of the world. They (the Prophet's Companions) said: Messenger of Allah, what is the adornment of the world? He said: Blessings (the natural resources) of the earth. They (again) said: Messenger of Allah, does good produce evil? He said: No, only good comes out of good. No, only good comes out of good. No. only good comes out of good. All that which the spring rain helps to grow kills or is about to kill but (the animal) which feeds on vegetation. It eats and when its flanks are distended, it faces the sun, it chews the cud, it has dunged and urinated. it returns and eats. This wealth is green and sweet, and he who accepts it and applies it rightly, finds it a good help, but he who takes it wrongfully is like one who eats without being satisfied.
Hadith 1052
حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ صَاحِبِ الدَّسْتَوَائِيِّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : جَلَسَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ، وَجَلَسْنَا حَوْلَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ مِمَّا أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ بَعْدِي مَا يُفْتَحُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ زَهْرَةِ الدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتِهَا " ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : أَوَ يَأْتِي الْخَيْرُ بِالشَّرِّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : فَسَكَتَ عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ : مَا شَأْنُكَ تُكَلِّمُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَا يُكَلِّمُكَ ؟ ، قَالَ : وَرَأَيْنَا أَنَّهُ يُنْزَلُ عَلَيْهِ فَأَفَاقَ يَمْسَحُ عَنْهُ الرُّحَضَاءَ ، وَقَالَ : " إِنَّ هَذَا السَّائِلَ وَكَأَنَّهُ حَمِدَهُ " ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّهُ لَا يَأْتِي الْخَيْرُ بِالشَّرِّ ، وَإِنَّ مِمَّا يُنْبِتُ الرَّبِيعُ يَقْتُلُ أَوْ يُلِمُّ ، إِلَّا آكِلَةَ الْخَضِرِ فَإِنَّهَا أَكَلَتْ حَتَّى إِذَا امْتَلَأَتْ خَاصِرَتَاهَا ، اسْتَقْبَلَتْ عَيْنَ الشَّمْسِ فَثَلَطَتْ وَبَالَتْ ، ثُمَّ رَتَعَتْ وَإِنَّ هَذَا الْمَالَ خَضِرٌ حُلْوٌ ، وَنِعْمَ صَاحِبُ الْمُسْلِمِ هُوَ ، لِمَنْ أَعْطَى مِنْهُ الْمِسْكِينَ وَالْيَتِيمَ وَابْنَ السَّبِيلَ " ، أَوْ كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَإِنَّهُ مَنْ يَأْخُذُهُ بِغَيْرِ حَقِّهِ كَانَ كَالَّذِي يَأْكُلُ وَلَا يَشْبَعُ ، وَيَكُونُ عَلَيْهِ شَهِيدًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
Abu Said al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was sitting on the pulpit and we were sitting around him, and he said: What I am afraid of in regard to you after my death is that there would be opened for you the adornments of the world and its beauties. A person said: Messenger of Allah, does good produce evil? The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) remained silent. And it was said to him (the man who had asked the question from the Holy Prophet): What Is the matter with you, that you speak with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) but he does not speak with you? We thought as if revelation was descending upon him. He regained himself and wiped the sweat from him and said: He was the inquirer (and his style of expression showed as if he praised him and then added): Verily good does not produce evil. Whatever the spring rainfall causes to grow kills or is about to kill, but that (animal) which feeds on vegetation. It eats till its flanks are filled; it faces the sun and dungs and urinates, and then returns to eat. And this Wealth is a sweet vegetation, and it is a good companion for a Muslim who gives out of it to the needy, to the orphan, to the wayfarer, or something like that as the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: He who takes it without his right is like one who eats but does not feel satisfied, and it would stand witness against him on the Day of Judgment.
Hadith 1064
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ سَعِيدٍ ، يَقُولُ : أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، وَعَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، أنهما أتيا أبا سعيد الخدري فسألاه عَنْ الْحَرُورِيَّةِ ، هَلْ سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَذْكُرُهَا ؟ ، قَالَ : لَا أَدْرِي مَنْ الْحَرُورِيَّةُ ، وَلَكِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " يَخْرُجُ فِي هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ وَلَمْ يَقُلْ مِنْهَا قَوْمٌ تَحْقِرُونَ صَلَاتَكُمْ مَعَ صَلَاتِهِمْ ، فَيَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ حُلُوقَهُمْ أَوْ حَنَاجِرَهُمْ ، يَمْرُقُونَ مِنَ الدِّينِ مُرُوقَ السَّهْمِ مِنَ الرَّمِيَّةِ ، فَيَنْظُرُ الرَّامِي إِلَى سَهْمِهِ إِلَى نَصْلِهِ إِلَى رِصَافِهِ ، فَيَتَمَارَى فِي الْفُوقَةِ هَلْ عَلِقَ بِهَا مِنَ الدَّمِ شَيْءٌ " .
Abu Salama and 'Ata' bin Yasar came to Abu Sa'id al-Khudri and asked him about Haruriya, saying: Did you hear the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) making a mention of them? He (Abu Sai'd al-Khudri) said: I don't know who the Haruriya are, but I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: There would arise in this nation (and he did not say "out of them") a people and you would hold insignificant your prayers as compared with their prayers. And they would recite the Qur'an which would not go beyond their throats and would swerve through the religion (as blank) just as a (swift) arrow passes through the prey. The archer looks at his arrow, at its iron head and glances at its end (which he held) in the tip of his fingers to see whether it had any stain of blood.
Hadith 1196
وحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فِي حِمَارِ الْوَحْشِ ، مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ أَبِي النَّضْرِ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّ فِي حَدِيثِ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " هَلْ مَعَكُمْ مِنْ لَحْمِهِ شَيْءٌ " .
This hadith pertaining to the wild ass is reported on the authority of Abu Qatadah (RA). The rest of the hadith is the same but with this (variation of words) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Is there with you some of its flesh?"
Hadith 1600
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَرْحٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْتَسْلَفَ مِنْ رَجُلٍ بَكْرًا ، فَقَدِمَتْ عَلَيْهِ إِبِلٌ مِنْ إِبِلِ الصَّدَقَةِ ، فَأَمَرَ أَبَا رَافِعٍ أَنْ يَقْضِيَ الرَّجُلَ بَكْرَهُ فَرَجَعَ إِلَيْهِ أَبُو رَافِعٍ ، فَقَالَ : لَمْ أَجِدْ فِيهَا إِلَّا خِيَارًا رَبَاعِيًا ، فَقَالَ : أَعْطِهِ إِيَّاهُ إِنَّ خِيَارَ النَّاسِ أَحْسَنُهُمْ قَضَاءً " ،
Abu Rafi' reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) took from a man as a loan a young camel (below six years). Then the camels of Sadaqa were brought to him. He ordered Abu Rafi' to return to that person the young camel (as a return of the loan). Abu Rafi' returned to him and said: I did not find among them but better camels above the age of six. He (the Holy Propet) said: Give that to him for the best men are those who are best in paying off the debt.
Hadith 1600
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، سَمِعْتُ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَسْلَمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَطَاءُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍمَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : اسْتَسْلَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَكْرًا بِمِثْلِهِ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ ، قَالَ : " فَإِنَّ خَيْرَ عِبَادِ اللَّهِ أَحْسَنُهُمْ قَضَاءً " .
Abu Rafi', the freed slave of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) , said: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) took as a loan (the rest of the hadith is the same), but with this variation that he (the Holy Prophet) said: Good amongst the servants of Allah is he who is best in paying off the debt.
Hadith 2121
حَدَّثَنِي سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي حَفْصُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عن النبي صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْجُلُوسَ فِي الطُّرُقَاتِ " ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا لَنَا بُدٌّ مِنْ مَجَالِسِنَا نَتَحَدَّثُ فِيهَا ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " فَإِذَا أَبَيْتُمْ إِلَّا الْمَجْلِسَ فَأَعْطُوا الطَّرِيقَ حَقَّهُ " ، قَالُوا : وَمَا حَقُّهُ ؟ ، قَالَ : " غَضُّ الْبَصَرِ ، وَكَفُّ الْأَذَى ، وَرَدُّ السَّلَامِ ، وَالْأَمْرُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ ، وَالنَّهْيُ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ " .
Abu Sa'id Kbudri reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: Avoid sitting on the paths. They (his Companions) said: Allah's Messenger. there is no other help to it (but to sit here as we) hold our meetings and discuss matters there. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: If you have to sit at all, theg fulfil the rights, of the path. They said: What are their rights? Thereupon he said: Keeping the eye downward (so that you may not stare at the women), refraining from doing some harm to the other and exchanging mutual greetings (saying as-Salamu 'Alaikum to one another) and commanding the good and forbidding the evil.
Hadith 2161
حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عن النبي صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْجُلُوسَ بِالطُّرُقَاتِ " ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا لَنَا بُدٌّ مِنْ مَجَالِسِنَا نَتَحَدَّثُ فِيهَا ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا أَبَيْتُمْ إِلَّا الْمَجْلِسَ فَأَعْطُوا الطَّرِيقَ حَقَّهُ " ، قَالُوا : وَمَا حَقُّهُ ؟ ، قَالَ : " غَضُّ الْبَصَرِ ، وَكَفُّ الْأَذَى ، وَرَدُّ السَّلَامِ ، وَالْأَمْرُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ ، وَالنَّهْيُ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ " .
Abu Sa'id Khudri reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: Avoid sitting on the paths. They (the Companions) said: Allah's Messenger, we cannot help but holding our meetings (in these paths) and discuss matters (there). Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: If you insist on holding meetings, then give the path its due right. They said: What are its due rights? Upon this he said: Lowering the gaze, refraining from doing harm, exchanging of greetings, commanding of good and forbidding from evil.
Hadith 537
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ الصَّوَّافِ . ح وحدثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ يَحْيَي بْنِ أَبِي كَثِير ٍ ، عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ السُّلَمِيِّ ، عن النبي صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَة ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، وَزَادَ فِي حَدِيثِ يَحْيَي بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : وَمِنَّا رِجَالٌ يَخُطُّونَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ نَبِيٌّ مِنَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ يَخُطُّ فَمَنْ وَافَقَ خَطَّهُ فَذَاكَ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Mu'awiyah bin Hakam as-Sulami through another chain of transmitters. The hadith transmitted on the authority of Yahya bin Abu Kathir (there is an addition of these words): I said: Among us there are men who draw lines and thus make divination. What about this? Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: There was a Prophet (ﷺ) who drew lines, so whose lines agree with his line for him it is allowable.
Hadith 2401
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ يَحْيَي ، وَيَحْيَي بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ ، وَابْنُ حُجْرٍ ، قَالَ يَحْيَي بْنُ يَحْيَي : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ الْآخَرُونَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنُونَ ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي حَرْمَلَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، وَسُلَيْمَانَ ابني يسار ، وأبي سلمة بن عبد الرحمن ، أن عائشة ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُضْطَجِعًا فِي بَيْتِي ، كَاشِفًا عَنْ فَخِذَيْهِ أَوْ سَاقَيْهِ ، فَاسْتَأْذَنَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَأَذِنَ لَهُ وَهُوَ عَلَى تِلْكَ الْحَالِ ، فَتَحَدَّثَ ، ثُمَّ اسْتَأْذَنَ عُمَرُ ، فَأَذِنَ لَهُ وَهُوَ كَذَلِكَ ، فَتَحَدَّثَ ثُمَّ اسْتَأْذَنَ عُثْمَانُ ، فَجَلَسَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَسَوَّى ثِيَابَهُ ، قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ : وَلَا أَقُولُ ذَلِكَ فِي يَوْمٍ وَاحِدٍ ، فَدَخَلَ فَتَحَدَّثَ فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : دَخَلَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَلَمْ تَهْتَشَّ لَهُ وَلَمْ تُبَالِهِ ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ عُمَرُ ، فَلَمْ تَهْتَشَّ لَهُ وَلَمْ تُبَالِهِ ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ عُثْمَانُ فَجَلَسْتَ وَسَوَّيْتَ ثِيَابَكَ ، فَقَالَ : أَلَا أَسْتَحِي مِنْ رَجُلٍ تَسْتَحِي مِنْهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ " .
A'isha reported: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was lying in the bed in my apartment with his thigh or his shank uncovered that Abu Bakr (RA) sought permission to get in. It was given to him and he conversed in the same very state (the Prophet's thigh or shank uncovered). Then 'Umar sought permission for getting in and it was given to him and he conversed in that very state. Then 'Uthman sought permission for getting in; Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sat down and he set right his clothes. Mubammad (one of the narrators) said: I do not say that it happened on the same day. He ('Uthman) then entered and conversed and as he went out, A'isha said: Abu Bakr (RA) entered aind you did not stir and did not observe much care (in arranging your clothes), then 'Umar entered and you did not stir and did not arrange your clothes, then 'Uthman entered and you got up and set your clothes right, thereupon he said: Should I not show modesty to one whom even the Angels show modesty.
Hadith 2573
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، وَأَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَا يُصِيبُ الْمُؤْمِنَ مِنْ وَصَبٍ وَلَا نَصَبٍ وَلَا سَقَمٍ وَلَا حَزَنٍ ، حَتَّى الْهَمِّ يُهَمُّهُ إِلَّا كُفِّرَ بِهِ مِنْ سَيِّئَاتِهِ " .
Abu Sa'id and abu Hurairah reported that they heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Never a believer is stricken with discomfort, hardship or illness, grief or even with mental worry that his sins are not expiated for him.
Hadith 2669
حَدَّثَنِي سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَتَتَّبِعُنَّ سَنَنَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ شِبْرًا بِشِبْرٍ وَذِرَاعًا بِذِرَاعٍ ، حَتَّى لَوْ دَخَلُوا فِي جُحْرِ ضَبٍّ لَاتَّبَعْتُمُوهُمْ ، قُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، آلْيَهُودَ ، وَالنَّصَارَى ، قَالَ : فَمَنْ " .
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: You would tread the same path as was trodden by those before you inch by inch and step by step so much so that if they had entered into the hole of the lizard, you would follow them in this also. We said: Allah's Messenger, do you mean Jews and Christians (by your words) "those before you"? He said: Who else (than those two religious groups)?
Hadith 2669
قَالَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَي ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو غَسَّانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ نحوه .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of 'Ata' bin Yasir through another chain of transmitters.
Hadith 2777
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ التَّمِيمِيُّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ " أَنَّ رِجَالًا مِنَ الْمُنَافِقِينَ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانُوا إِذَا خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْغَزْوِ ، تَخَلَّفُوا عَنْهُ وَفَرِحُوا بِمَقْعَدِهِمْ خِلَافَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَإِذَا قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اعْتَذَرُوا إِلَيْهِ وَحَلَفُوا وَأَحَبُّوا أَنْ يُحْمَدُوا بِمَا لَمْ يَفْعَلُوا ، فَنَزَلَتْ لا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ يَفْرَحُونَ بِمَا أَتَوْا وَيُحِبُّونَ أَنْ يُحْمَدُوا بِمَا لَمْ يَفْعَلُوا فَلا تَحْسَبَنَّهُمْ بِمَفَازَةٍ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ سورة آل عمران آية 188 " .
Abu Sa'id Khudri reported that during the lifetime of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) the hypocrites behaved in this way that when Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) set out for a battle, they kept themselves behind, and they became happy that they had managed to sit in the house contrary to (the act of) Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) , and when Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) (may peace he upon him) came back, they put forward excuses and took oath and wished that people should laud them for the deeds which they had not done. It was on this occasion that this verse was revealed: "Think not that those who exult in what they have done, and love to be praised for what they have not done-think not them to be safe from the chastisement; and for them is a painful chastisement" (iii. 18).
Hadith 2792
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ اللَّيْثِ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ جَدِّي ، حَدَّثَنِي خَالِدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِلَالٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " تَكُونُ الْأَرْضُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ خُبْزَةً وَاحِدَةً يَكْفَؤُهَا الْجَبَّارُ بِيَدِهِ ، كَمَا يَكْفَأُ أَحَدُكُمْ خُبْزَتَهُ فِي السَّفَرِ نُزُلًا لِأَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ " ، قَالَ : فَأَتَى رَجُلٌ مِنْ الْيَهُودِ ، فَقَال : بَارَكَ الرَّحْمَنُ عَلَيْكَ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ ، أَلَا أُخْبِرُكَ بِنُزُلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ؟ قَالَ بَلَى ، قَالَ : تَكُونُ الْأَرْضُ خُبْزَةً وَاحِدَةً ، كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ ضَحِكَ حَتَّى بَدَتْ نَوَاجِذُهُ ، قَالَ : " أَلَا أُخْبِرُكَ بِإِدَامِهِمْ ؟ ، قَالَ : بَلَى ، قَالَ : " إِدَامُهُمْ بَالَامُ وَنُونٌ ، قَالُوا : وَمَا هَذَا ؟ ، قَالَ : ثَوْرٌ وَنُونٌ يَأْكُلُ مِنْ زَائِدَةِ كَبِدِهِمَا سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا " .
Abu al-Sa'id Khudri reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying that the earth would turn to be one single bread on the Day of Resurrection and the Almighty would turn it in His hand as one of you turns a loaf while on a journey. It would be a feast arranged in the honour of the people of Paradise. He (the narrator) further narrated that a person from among the Jews came and he said: Abu al-Qasim, may the Compassionate Lord be pleased with you! May I inform you about the feast arranged in honour of the people of Paradise on the Day of Resurrection? He said: Do it, of course. He said: The earth would become one single bread. Then Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) looked towards us and laughed until his molar teeth became visible. He then again said: May I inform you about that with which they would season it? He said: Do it, of course. He said: Their seasoning would be balim and fish. The Companions of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: What is this balam? He said: Ox and fish from whose excessive livers seventy thousand people would be able to eat.
Hadith 2829
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَهْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَقُولُ لِأَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ يَا أَهْلَ الْجَنَّةِ ، فَيَقُولُونَ : لَبَّيْكَ رَبَّنَا وَسَعْدَيْكَ وَالْخَيْرُ فِي يَدَيْكَ ، فَيَقُولُ : هَلْ رَضِيتُمْ ؟ ، فَيَقُولُونَ : وَمَا لَنَا لَا نَرْضَى يَا رَبِّ وَقَدْ أَعْطَيْتَنَا مَا لَمْ تُعْطِ أَحَدًا مِنْ خَلْقِكَ ، فَيَقُولُ : أَلَا أُعْطِيكُمْ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ؟ ، فَيَقُولُونَ : يَا رَبِّ وَأَيُّ شَيْءٍ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَيَقُولُ : أُحِلُّ عَلَيْكُمْ رِضْوَانِي فَلَا أَسْخَطُ عَلَيْكُمْ بَعْدَهُ أَبَدًا " .
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported that Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) said that Allah would say to the inmates of Paradise: O, Dwellers of Paradise, and they would say in response: At thy service and pleasure, our Lord, the good is in Thy Hand. He (the Lord) would say: Are you well pleased now? They would say: Why should we not be pleased, O Lord, when Thou hast given us what Thou hast not given to any of Thy creatures? He would, however, say: May I not give you (something) even more excellent than that? And they would say: O Lord, what thing can be more excellent than this? And He would say: I shall cause My pleasure to alight upon you and I shall never be afterwards annoyed with you.
Hadith 2831
حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ خَالِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْجَنَّةِ لَيَتَرَاءَوْنَ أَهْلَ الْغُرَفِ مِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ ، كَمَا تَتَرَاءَوْنَ الْكَوْكَبَ الدُّرِّيَّ الْغَابِرَ مِنَ الْأُفُقِ مِنَ الْمَشْرِقِ أَوِ الْمَغْرِبِ لِتَفَاضُلِ مَا بَيْنَهُمْ " ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، تِلْكَ مَنَازِلُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ لَا يَبْلُغُهَا غَيْرُهُمْ ، قَالَ : " بَلَى ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ رِجَالٌ آمَنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَصَدَّقُوا الْمُرْسَلِينَ " .
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The inmates of Paradise would see the inmates of the apartment over them just as you see the shining planets which remain in the eastern and the western horizon because of the superiority some have over others. They said: Allah's Messenger, would in these abodes of Apostles others besides them not be able to reach? He said: Yes, they will, by Him, in Whose hand is my life, those who believe in God and acknowledge the Truth, will reach them.
Hadith 3004
حَدَّثَنَا هَدَّابُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا تَكْتُبُوا عَنِّي ، وَمَنْ كَتَبَ عَنِّي غَيْرَ الْقُرْآنِ ، فَلْيَمْحُهُ وَحَدِّثُوا عَنِّي ، وَلَا حَرَجَ وَمَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ " ، قَالَ هَمَّامٌ : أَحْسِبُهُ ، قَالَ : مُتَعَمِّدًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ .
Abu Sa'id Khudri reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: Do not take down anything from me, and he who took down anything from me except the Qur'an, he should efface that and narrate from me, for there is no harm in it and he who attributed any falsehood to me -and Hammam said: I think he also said: "deliberately"- he should in fact find his abode in the Hell-Fire.
