Hadith 2613
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّ هِشَامَ بْنَ حَكِيمٍ وَجَدَ رَجُلًا ، وَهُوَ عَلَى حِمْصَ يُشَمِّسُ نَاسًا مِنَ النَّبْطِ فِي أَدَاءِ الْجِزْيَةِ ، فَقَالَ : مَا هَذَا ؟ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُعَذِّبُ الَّذِينَ يُعَذِّبُونَ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا " .
'Urwa bin Zubair reported that Hisham bin Hakim found a person (the ruler of Homs) who had been detaining some Nabateans in connection with the dues of Jizya. He said: What is this? I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Allah would torment those persons who torment people in the world.
Hadith 2624
حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمِثْلِهِ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of 'A'isha through another chain of transmitters.
Hadith 2673
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، سَمِعْتَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَقْبِضُ الْعِلْمَ انْتِزَاعًا يَنْتَزِعُهُ مِنَ النَّاسِ ، وَلَكِنْ يَقْبِضُ الْعِلْمَ بِقَبْضِ الْعُلَمَاءِ ، حَتَّى إِذَا لَمْ يَتْرُكْ عَالِمًا اتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ رُءُوسًا جُهَّالًا ، فَسُئِلُوا فَأَفْتَوْا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ فَضَلُّوا وَأَضَلُّوا " .
'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin al-'As reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Verily, Allah does not take away knowledge by snatching it from the people but He takes away knowledge by taking away the scholars, so that when He leaves no learned person, people turn to ignorant as their leaders; then they are asked to deliver religious verdicts and they deliver them without knowledge, they go astray, and lead others astray.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الْعَتَكِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ يَحْيَي ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ، وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، وَأَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، وعبدة . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ سَعِيدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ جَرِيرٍ ، وَزَادَ فِي حَدِيثِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، ثُمَّ لَقِيتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍ وَعَلَى رَأْسِ الْحَوْلِ ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَرَدَّ عَلَيْنَا الْحَدِيثَ ، كَمَا حَدَّثَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (RA) through other chains of transmitters, but in the hadith transmitted by Umar bin 'Ali there is an addition of these words: I met 'Abdullah bin 'Amr at the end of the year and I asked him about it, and he narrated to us the hadith as he had narrated before that he had heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying.... (The rest of the hadith is the same).
Hadith 2673
حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى التُّجِيبِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو شُرَيْحٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَا الْأَسْوَدِ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، قَالَ : قَالَتْ لِي عَائِشَةُ : يَا ابْنَ أُخْتِي بَلَغَنِي ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو مَارٌّ بِنَا إِلَى الْحَجِّ ، فَالْقَهُ فَسَائِلْهُ ، فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ حَمَلَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِلْمًا كَثِيرًا ، قَالَ : فَلَقِيتُهُ فَسَاءَلْتُهُ عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ يَذْكُرُهَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ عُرْوَةُ : فَكَانَ فِيمَا ذَكَرَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَنْتَزِعُ الْعِلْمَ مِنَ النَّاسِ انْتِزَاعًا ، وَلَكِنْ يَقْبِضُ الْعُلَمَاءَ ، فَيَرْفَعُ الْعِلْمَ مَعَهُمْ وَيُبْقِي فِي النَّاسِ رُءُوسًا جُهَّالًا يُفْتُونَهُمْ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ، فَيَضِلُّونَ وَيُضِلُّونَ " ، قَالَ عُرْوَةُ : فَلَمَّا حَدَّثْتُ عَائِشَةَ بِذَلِكَ ، أَعْظَمَتْ ذَلِكَ وَأَنْكَرَتْهُ ، قَالَتْ : أَحَدَّثَكَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ هَذَا ، قَالَ عُرْوَةُ : حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ قَابِلٌ ؟ قَالَتْ لَهُ : إِنَّ ابْنَ عَمْرٍ وَقَدْ قَدِمَ ، فَالْقَهُ ثُمَّ فَاتِحْهُ ، حَتَّى تَسْأَلَهُ عَنِ الْحَدِيثِ الَّذِي ذَكَرَهُ لَكَ فِي الْعِلْمِ ، قَالَ : فَلَقِيتُهُ فَسَاءَلْتُهُ ، فَذَكَرَهُ لِي نَحْوَ مَا حَدَّثَنِي بِهِ فِي مَرَّتِهِ الْأُولَى ، قَالَ عُرْوَةُ : فَلَمَّا أَخْبَرْتُهَا بِذَلِكَ ، قَالَتْ : مَا أَحْسَبُهُ إِلَّا قَدْ صَدَقَ أَرَاهُ لَمْ يَزِدْ فِيهِ شَيْئًا وَلَمْ يَنْقُصْ .
'Urwa bin Zubair reported that 'A'isha said to him: This news has reached me that 'Abdullah bin 'Amr al-'As would pass by us during the Hajj season, so you meet him and ask him (about religious matters) as he has acquired great knowledge from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) . I thus met him and asked him about things which he narrated from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) . And amongst these the one he mentioned was that Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) said: Verily, Allah does not take away knowledge from people directly but he takes away the scholars and consequently takes away (knowledge) along with them and leaves amongst persons the ignorant as their leaders who deliver religious verdicts without (adequate) knowledge and themselves go astray and lead others astray. 'Urwa said: When I narrated this to 'A'isha, she deemed it too much (to believe) and thus showed reluctance to accept that (as perfectly true) and said to 'Urwa (RA) : Did he ('Abdullah bin 'Amr) say to you that he had heard Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: ('Urwa had forgotten to ask this from 'Abdullah bin 'Amr). So when it was the next year, she ('A'isha) said to him ('Urwa): Ibn Amr has come (for Hajj), so meet him, talk to him and ask him about this hadith that he narrated to you (last year on the occasion of the Hajj) pertaining to knowledge. He ('Urwa), said: So I met him, and asked about it and he narrated to me exactly like one that he had narrated (to me) for the first time. So when I informed her ('A'isha) about that, she said: I do not think but this that he has certainly told the truth and I find that he has neither made any addition to it, nor missed anything from it.
Hadith 589
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَدْعُو بِهَؤُلَاءِ الدَّعَوَاتِ " اللَّهُمَّ فَإِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ النَّارِ وَعَذَابِ النَّارِ ، وَفِتْنَةِ الْقَبْرِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْغِنَى وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْفَقْرِ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ ، اللَّهُمَّ اغْسِلْ خَطَايَايَ بِمَاءِ الثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ وَنَقِّ قَلْبِي مِنَ الْخَطَايَا كَمَا نَقَّيْتَ الثَّوْبَ الْأَبْيَضَ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ ، وَبَاعِدْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ خَطَايَايَ كَمَا بَاعَدْتَ بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ ، اللَّهُمَّ فَإِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكَسَلِ وَالْهَرَمِ وَالْمَأْثَمِ وَالْمَغْرَمِ " ،
'A'isha reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to make these supplications: "O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from the trial of Hell-Fire; and from the torment of Hell-Fire; and from the trial of the grave and torment of the grave; and from the evil of the trial of the affluence and from the evil of the trial of poverty and I seek refuge in Thee from the evil of the turmoil of the Dajjal. O Allah, wash away my sins with snow and hail water, purify my heart from the sins as is purified the white garment from the dirt, and keep away at a distance the sins from me as yawns the distance between the East and the West; O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from sloth, from senility, from sin, and from debt."
Hadith 2762
(حديث مرفوع) قَالَ يَحْيَى ، وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ حَدَّثَتْهُ ، أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لَيْسَ شَيْءٌ أَغْيَرَ مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " ،
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Asma' daughter of Abu Bakr, through another chain of transmitters.
Hadith 2762
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " لَا شَيْءَ أَغْيَرُ مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " .
Asma' reported that Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) said: There is none more self-respecting than Allah, the Exalted and Glorious.
Hadith 2770
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الْعَتَكِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ يُونُسَ ، وَمَعْمَرٍ بِإِسْنَادِهِمَا ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ فُلَيْحٍ اجْتَهَلَتْهُ الْحَمِيَّةُ ، كَمَا قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ : وَفِي حَدِيثِ صَالِحٍ احْتَمَلَتْهُ الْحَمِيَّةُ كَقَوْلِ يُونُسَ ، وَزَادَ فِي حَدِيثِ صَالِحٍ ، قَالَ عُرْوَةُ : كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ تَكْرَهُ أَنْ يُسَبَّ عِنْدَهَا حَسَّانُ ، وَتَقُولُ : فَإِنَّهُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ أَبِي وَوَالِدَهُ وَعِرْضِي لِعِرْضِ مُحَمَّدٍ مِنْكُمْ وِقَاءُ ، وَزَادَ أَيْضًا ، قَالَ عُرْوَةُ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : وَاللَّهِ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ الَّذِي قِيلَ لَهُ مَا قِيلَ ، لَيَقُولُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ ، فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ مَا كَشَفْتُ عَنْ كَنَفِ أُنْثَى قَطُّ ، قَالَتْ : ثُمَّ قُتِلَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ شَهِيدًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مُوعِرِينَ فِي نَحْرِ الظَّهِيرَةِ ، وقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ مُوغِرِينَ قَالَ عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ قُلْتُ لِعَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ : مَا قَوْلُهُ مُوغِرِينَ ؟ ، قَالَ : الْوَغْرَةُ شِدَّةُ الْحَرِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : لَمَّا ذُكِرَ مِنْ شَأْنِي الَّذِي ذُكِرَ ، وَمَا عَلِمْتُ بِهِ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَطِيبًا ، فَتَشَهَّدَ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ بِمَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : أَمَّا بَعْدُ : أَشِيرُوا عَلَيَّ فِي أُنَاسٍ أَبَنُوا أَهْلِي ، وَايْمُ اللَّهِ مَا عَلِمْتُ عَلَى أَهْلِي مِنْ سُوءٍ قَطُّ ، وَأَبَنُوهُمْ بِمَنْ وَاللَّهِ مَا عَلِمْتُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ سُوءٍ قَطُّ وَلَا دَخَلَ بَيْتِي قَطُّ ، إِلَّا وَأَنَا حَاضِرٌ وَلَا غِبْتُ فِي سَفَرٍ إِلَّا غَابَ مَعِي ، وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ بِقِصَّتِهِ وَفِيهِ ، وَلَقَدْ دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْتِي ، فَسَأَلَ جَارِيَتِي ، فَقَالَتْ : وَاللَّهِ مَا عَلِمْتُ عَلَيْهَا عَيْبًا إِلَّا أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَرْقُدُ حَتَّى تَدْخُلَ الشَّاةُ ، فَتَأْكُلَ عَجِينَهَا ، أَوْ قَالَتْ : خَمِيرَهَا ، شَكَّ هِشَامٌ فَانْتَهَرَهَا بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِهِ ، فَقَالَ : اصْدُقِي رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى أَسْقَطُوا لَهَا بِهِ ، فَقَالَتْ : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهِ مَا عَلِمْتُ عَلَيْهَا إِلَّا مَا يَعْلَمُ الصَّائِغُ عَلَى تِبْرِ الذَّهَبِ الْأَحْمَرِ ، وَقَدْ بَلَغَ الْأَمْرُ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلَ الَّذِي قِيلَ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهِ مَا كَشَفْتُ عَنْ كَنَفِ أُنْثَى قَطُّ ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : وَقُتِلَ شَهِيدًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَفِيهِ أَيْضًا مِنَ الزِّيَادَةِ ، وَكَانَ الَّذِينَ تَكَلَّمُوا بِهِ مِسْطَحٌ وَحَمْنَةُ وَحَسَّانُ ، وَأَمَّا الْمُنَافِقُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أُبَيٍّ ، فَهُوَ الَّذِي كَانَ يَسْتَوْشِيهِ وَيَجْمَعُهُ وَهُوَ الَّذِي تَوَلَّى كِبْرَهُ وَحَمْنَةُ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Zuhri through other chains of transmitters but with a slight variation of wording. In the hadith transmitters on the authority of 'Urwa, there is an addition of these words: "'A'isha did not like that Hassan should be rebuked in her presence and she used to say: It was he who wrote this verse also: "'Verily, my father and my mother and my honour, those are all meant for defending the honour of Muhammad against you." And 'Urwa further reported that 'A'isha said: By Allah, the person, about whom the allegation was made used to say: Hallowed be Allah, by One, in Whose hand is my life, I have never unveiled any woman, and then he died as a martyr in the cause of Allah, and in the narration transmitted on the authority of Ya'qub bin Ibrahim., the word is Mu'irin and in the narration transmitted on the'authority of 'Abdul Razzaq it is Mughirin. 'Abd bin Humaid said: I said to 'Abdul Razzaq: What does this word Mughirin mean? And he said: Al- waghra means intense heat.
Hadith 2815
حَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو صَخْرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ قُسَيْطٍ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ عُرْوَةَ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدَّثَتْهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ مِنْ عِنْدِهَا لَيْلًا ، قَالَتْ : فَغِرْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَجَاءَ ، فَرَأَى مَا أَصْنَعُ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا لَكِ يَا عَائِشَةُ أَغِرْتِ ؟ " ، فَقُلْتُ : وَمَا لِي لَا يَغَارُ مِثْلِي عَلَى مِثْلِكَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَقَدْ جَاءَكِ شَيْطَانُكِ ؟ " ، قَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَوْ مَعِيَ شَيْطَانٌ ؟ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قُلْتُ : وَمَعَ كُلِّ إِنْسَانٍ ؟ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قُلْتُ : وَمَعَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، وَلَكِنْ رَبِّي أَعَانَنِي عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى أَسْلَمَ " .
A'isha the wife of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) , reported that one day Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came out of her (apartment) during the night and she felt jealous. Then he came and he saw me (in what agitated state of mind) I was. He said: A'isha, what has happened to you? Do you feel jealous? Thereupon she said: How can it be (that a woman like me) should not feel jealous in regard to a husband like you. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: It was your devil who had come to you, and she said: Allah's Messenger, is there along with me a devil? He said: Yes. I said: Is devil attached to everyone? He said: Yes. I (Aisha) again said: Allah's Messenger, is it with you also? He said: Yes, but my Lord has helped me against him and as such I am absolutely safe from his mischief.
Hadith 2820
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ ، وَهَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو صَخْرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ قُسَيْطٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا صَلَّى قَامَ حَتَّى تَفَطَّرَ رِجْلَاهُ ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَتَصْنَعُ هَذَا وَقَدْ غُفِرَ لَكَ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ ؟ ، فَقَالَ يَا عَائِشَةُ : أَفَلَا أَكُونُ عَبْدًا شَكُورًا " .
A'isha reported that when Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) occupied himself in prayer, he observed such a (long) qiyam (posture of standing in prayer) that his feet were swollen. A'isha said: Allah's Messenger you do this (in spite of the fact) that your earlier and later sins have been pardoned for you? Thereupon, he said. A'isha should I not prove myself to be a thanksgiving servant (of Allah)?
Hadith 2855
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَمْعَةَ ، قَالَ : خَطَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرَ النَّاقَةَ وَذَكَرَ الَّذِي عَقَرَهَا ، فَقَالَ : " إِذْ انْبَعَثَ أَشْقَاهَا انْبَعَثَ بِهَا رَجُلٌ عَزِيزٌ عَارِمٌ مَنِيعٌ فِي رَهْطِهِ مِثْلُ أَبِي زَمْعَةَ " ، ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ النِّسَاءَ فَوَعَظَ فِيهِنَّ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " إِلَامَ يَجْلِدُ أَحَدُكُمُ امْرَأَتَهُ " . فِي رِوَايَةِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ جَلْدَ الْأَمَةِ ، وَفِي رِوَايَةِ أَبِي كُرَيْبٍ جَلْدَ الْعَبْدِ ، وَلَعَلَّهُ يُضَاجِعُهَا مِنْ آخِرِ يَوْمِهِ ثُمَّ وَعَظَهُمْ فِي ضَحِكِهِمْ مِنَ الضَّرْطَةِ ، فَقَالَ : " إِلَامَ يَضْحَكُ أَحَدُكُمْ مِمَّا يَفْعَلُ " .
'Abdullah bin Zam'a reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) delivered an address and he made a mention of the dromedary and also made a mention of one (base person) who cut off Its hind legs, and he recited:" When the basest of them broke forth with mischief" (xei. 12). When A mischievous person, strong even because of the strength of a family like Abu Zam'a, broke forth. He then delivered instruction in regard to the women saying: There is amongst you who beats his woman, and in the narration on the authority of Abu Bakr, the words are: He flogs her like a slave-girl. And in the narration of Abu Kuraib (the words are): He flogs like a slave and then comforts his bed with the help of that at the end of the day, and he then advised in regard to laughing of people at the breaking of wind and said: One of you laughs at that which you yourself do.
Hadith 2880
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْتَيْقَظَ مِنْ نَوْمِهِ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : " لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذِهِ " ، وَعَقَدَ سُفْيَانُ بِيَدِهِ عَشَرَةً ، قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَنَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ " ،
Zainab bint Jahsh reported that Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) got up from sleep saying: There is no god but Allah; there is a destruction in store for Arabia because of turmoil which is at hand, the barrier of Gog and Magog has opened so much. And Sufyan made a sign of ten with the help of his hand (in order to indicate the width of the gap) and I said: Allah's Messenger, would we be perished in spite of the fact that there would be good people amongst us? Thereupon he said: Of course, but only when the evil predominates.
Hadith 2880
حَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ ، أَنَّ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، أَخْبَرَتْهَا أَنَّ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ جَحْشٍ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَتْ : خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا فَزِعًا مُحْمَرًّا وَجْهُهُ ، يَقُولُ : " لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ ، قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذِهِ ، وَحَلَّقَ بِإِصْبَعِهِ الْإِبْهَامِ وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا " ، قَالَتْ : فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَنَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ ، قَالَ : " نَعَمْ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ " ،
Zainab bint Jahsh, the wife of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) , reported that one day Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came out in a state of excitement with his face quite red. And he was saying: There is no god but Allah; there is a destruction in store for Arabia because of the turmoil which is near at hand as the barrier of Gog and Magog has been opened like it, and he (in order to explain it) made a ring with the help of his thumb and forefinger. I said: Allah's Messenger, would we be destroyed despite the fact that there would be pious people amongst us? He said: Yes, when the evil would predominate.
Hadith 2885
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَعَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، وَابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ وَاللَّفْظُ لِابْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ الْآخَرُونَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَشْرَفَ عَلَى أُطُمٍ مِنْ آطَامِ الْمَدِينَةِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " هَلْ تَرَوْنَ مَا أَرَى ؟ إِنِّي لَأَرَى مَوَاقِعَ الْفِتَنِ خِلَالَ بُيُوتِكُمْ كَمَوَاقِعِ الْقَطْرِ " ،
Usama reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) climbed up a battlement amongst the battlements of Madinah and then said: You do not see what I am seeing and I am seeing the places of turmoil between your houses as tile places of rainfall.
Hadith 2952
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ الْأَعْرَابُ إِذَا قَدِمُوا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، سَأَلُوهُ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ مَتَى السَّاعَةُ ؟ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى أَحْدَثِ إِنْسَانٍ مِنْهُمْ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنْ يَعِشْ هَذَا لَمْ يُدْرِكْهُ الْهَرَمُ قَامَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ سَاعَتُكُمْ " .
'A'isha reported that when the desert Arabs came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) they asked about the Last Hour as to when that would come. And he looked towards the youngest amongst them and said: If he lives he would not grow very old that he would find your Last Hour coming to you that would see you dying).
Hadith 2961
حَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَرْمَلَةَ بْنِ عِمْرَانَ التُّجِيبِيَّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّ الْمِسْوَرَ بْنَ مَخْرَمَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ عَوْفٍ وَهُوَ حَلِيفُ بَنِي عَامِرِ بْنِ لُؤَيٍّ ، وَكَانَ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ بْنَ الْجَرَّاحِ إِلَى الْبَحْرَيْنِ يَأْتِي بِجِزْيَتِهَا ، وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هُوَ صَالَحَ أَهْلَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ وَأَمَّرَ عَلَيْهِمْ الْعَلَاءَ بْنَ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ ، فَقَدِمَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بِمَالٍ مِنْ الْبَحْرَيْنِ ، فَسَمِعَتْ الْأَنْصَارُ بِقُدُومِ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ ، فَوَافَوْا صَلَاةَ الْفَجْرِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَلَمَّا صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ انْصَرَفَ ، فَتَعَرَّضُوا لَهُ فَتَبَسَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ رَآهُمْ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَظُنُّكُمْ سَمِعْتُمْ أَنَّ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ قَدِمَ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ الْبَحْرَيْنِ ؟ ، فَقَالُوا : أَجَلْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " فَأَبْشِرُوا وَأَمِّلُوا مَا يَسُرُّكُمْ ، فَوَاللَّهِ مَا الْفَقْرَ أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ ، وَلَكِنِّي أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تُبْسَطَ الدُّنْيَا عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَا بُسِطَتْ عَلَى مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ ، فَتَنَافَسُوهَا كَمَا تَنَافَسُوهَا وَتُهْلِكَكُمْ كَمَا أَهْلَكَتْهُمْ " ،
'Amr bin 'Auf, who was an ally of Banu 'Amir bin Luwayy (and he was one amongst them) who participated in Badr along with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) , reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sent Abu Ubaida bin Jarrah to Bahrain for collecting Jizya and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had made a truce with the people of Bahrain and had appointed 'Ala' bin Hadrami and Abu Ubaida (for this purpose). They came with wealth from Bahrain and the Ansar heard about the arrival of Abu Ubaida and they had observed the dawn prayer along with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) , and when Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had finished the prayer they (the Ansar) came before him and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) smiled as he saw them and then said: I think you have heard about the arrival of Abu Ubaida with goods from Bahrain. They said: Allah's Messenger yes, it is so. Thereupon he said: Be happy and be hopeful of that what gives you delight. By Allah, it is not the poverty about which I fear in regard to you but I am afraid in your case that (the worldly) riches may be given to you as were given to those who had gone before you and you begin to vie with one another for them as they vied for them, and these may destroy you as these destroyed them.
Hadith 2970
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ " مَا شَبِعَ آلُ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ خُبْزِ الْبُرِّ ثَلَاثًا حَتَّى مَضَى لِسَبِيلِهِ " .
'A'isha reported: Never could the family of Muhammad (ﷺ) (afford to) eat the bread of wheat for three (successive) days until he ran the course of his life.
Hadith 2971
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ ، عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " مَا شَبِعَ آلُ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَيْنِ مِنْ خُبْزِ بُرٍّ ، إِلَّا وَأَحَدُهُمَا تَمْرٌ " .
'A'isha reported: Never could the family of Muhammad (ﷺ) (afford to eat) the bread of wheat for two days successively. Even (out of these two days) one was such wherein he could get only a date.
Hadith 2972
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : وَيَحْيَى بْنُ يَمَانٍ حَدَّثَنَا ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " إِنْ كُنَّا آلَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَنَمْكُثُ شَهْرًا مَا نَسْتَوْقِدُ بِنَارٍ ، إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا التَّمْرُ وَالْمَاءُ " ،
'A'isha reported: We the family of Muhammad (ﷺ) used to spend the whole month in which we did not need to kindle the fire as (we had nothing to cook); we had only dates and water (to fill our bellies).
Hadith 2973
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَا فِي رَفِّي مِنْ شَيْءٍ يَأْكُلُهُ ، ذُو كَبِدٍ إِلَّا شَطْرُ شَعِيرٍ فِي رَفٍّ لِي ، فَأَكَلْتُ مِنْهُ حَتَّى طَالَ عَلَيَّ ، فَكِلْتُهُ فَفَنِيَ " .
'A'isha reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) died (in such a state) that there had been nothing in my wooden tub which a living being could afford to eat but a handful of barley therein. I had been eating out of that for a fairly long duration when I thought of measuring it and it was almost finished.
Hadith 2972
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ رُومَانَ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَقُولُ " وَاللَّهِ يَا ابْنَ أُخْتِي إِنْ كُنَّا لَنَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْهِلَالِ ، ثُمَّ الْهِلَالِ ، ثُمَّ الْهِلَالِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَهِلَّةٍ فِي شَهْرَيْنِ ، وَمَا أُوقِدَ فِي أَبْيَاتِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَارٌ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ يَا خَالَةُ : فَمَا كَانَ يُعَيِّشُكُمْ ؟ ، قَالَتِ الْأَسْوَدَانِ : التَّمْرُ وَالْمَاءُ ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَدْ كَانَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جِيرَانٌ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ ، وَكَانَتْ لَهُمْ مَنَائِحُ ، فَكَانُوا يُرْسِلُونَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَلْبَانِهَا فَيَسْقِينَاهُ " .
'A'isha used to say to 'Urwa (RA) : Son of my sister, by Allah, I used to see the new moon, then the new moon, then the new moon, i. e. three moons in two months, and fire was not kindled in the house of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) . I ('Urwa) said: Auntie, then what were your means of sustenance? She said: Dates and water. But it (so happened) that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had some Ansar as his neighbours and they had milch animals and they used to send to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) some milk of their (animals) and he served that to us.

حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ أَحْمَدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو صَخْرٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قُسَيْطٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو صَخْرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ قُسَيْطٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَتْ : " لَقَدْ مَاتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَا شَبِعَ مِنْ خُبْزٍ وَزَيْتٍ فِي يَوْمٍ وَاحِدٍ مَرَّتَيْنِ " .
'Urwa bin Zubair reported on the authority of 'A'isha, the wife of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) , that she said: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) died (in a state) that it never happened that he could eat to his fill the bread with olive oil twice during a day.
Hadith 2996
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حميد ، قَالَ عَبْدُ بْنُ حميدٍ : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ ابْنُ رَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " خُلِقَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ مِنْ نُورٍ ، وَخُلِقَ الْجَانُّ مِنْ مَارِجٍ مِنْ نَارٍ ، وَخُلِقَ آدَمُ مِمَّا وُصِفَ لَكُمْ " .
'A'isha reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: The Angels were born out of light and the Jinns were born out of the spark of fire and Adam ؑwas born as he has been defined (in the Qur'an) for you (i. e. he is fashioned out of clay).
Hadith 2493
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا بِهِ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، وَيَقُولُ " اسْمَعِي يَا رَبَّةَ الْحُجْرَةِ ، اسْمَعِي يَا رَبَّةَ الْحُجْرَةِ ، وَعَائِشَةُ تُصَلِّي ، فَلَمَّا قَضَتْ صَلَاتَهَا ، قَالَتْ لِعُرْوَةَ : أَلَا تَسْمَعُ إِلَى هَذَا ؟ ، وَمَقَالَتِهِ آنِفًا ، إِنَّمَا كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُحَدِّثُ حَدِيثًا لَوْ عَدَّهُ الْعَادُّ لَأَحْصَاهُ " .
Hurairah used to say: Listen to me, inmate of the apartment; listen to me, inmate of the It was reported that Abu apartment, while 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) had been busy in observing prayer. As she finished prayer, she said to "Urwa (RA) : Did you hear his words? And this is how Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to utter (so distinctly) that if one intended to count (the words uttered) he would be able to do so.
Hadith 3018
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَرْحٍ ، وَحَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى التُّجِيبِيُّ ، قَالَ أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ : حَدَّثَنَا ، وقَالَ حَرْمَلَةُ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلَّا تُقْسِطُوا فِي الْيَتَامَى فَانْكِحُوا مَا طَابَ لَكُمْ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ مَثْنَى وَثُلاثَ وَرُبَاعَ سورة النساء آية 3 ، قَالَتْ : يَا ابْنَ أُخْتِي هِيَ الْيَتِيمَةُ تَكُونُ فِي حَجْرِ وَلِيِّهَا تُشَارِكُهُ فِي مَالِهِ ، فَيُعْجِبُهُ مَالُهَا وَجَمَالُهَا ، فَيُرِيدُ وَلِيُّهَا أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَهَا بِغَيْرِ أَنْ يُقْسِطَ فِي صَدَاقِهَا ، فَيُعْطِيَهَا مِثْلَ مَا يُعْطِيهَا غَيْرُهُ ، فَنُهُوا أَنْ يَنْكِحُوهُنَّ إِلَّا أَنْ يُقْسِطُوا لَهُنَّ وَيَبْلُغُوا بِهِنَّ أَعْلَى سُنَّتِهِنَّ مِنَ الصَّدَاقِ ، وَأُمِرُوا أَنْ يَنْكِحُوا مَا طَابَ لَهُمْ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ سِوَاهُنَّ ، قَالَ عُرْوَةُ : قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : ثُمَّ إِنَّ النَّاسَ اسْتَفْتَوْا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْدَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ فِيهِنَّ ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَيَسْتَفْتُونَكَ فِي النِّسَاءِ قُلِ اللَّهُ يُفْتِيكُمْ فِيهِنَّ وَمَا يُتْلَى عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الْكِتَابِ فِي يَتَامَى النِّسَاءِ اللَّاتِي لا تُؤْتُونَهُنَّ مَا كُتِبَ لَهُنَّ وَتَرْغَبُونَ أَنْ تَنْكِحُوهُنَّ سورة النساء آية 127 ، قَالَتْ : وَالَّذِي ذَكَرَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى أَنَّهُ يُتْلَى عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الْكِتَابِ الْآيَةُ الْأُولَى الَّتِي ، قَالَ اللَّهُ فِيهَا : وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلَّا تُقْسِطُوا فِي الْيَتَامَى فَانْكِحُوا مَا طَابَ لَكُمْ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ سورة النساء آية 3 ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : وَقَوْلُ اللَّهِ فِي الْآيَةِ الْأُخْرَى وَتَرْغَبُونَ أَنْ تَنْكِحُوهُنَّ سورة النساء آية 127 رَغْبَةَ أَحَدِكُمْ عَنِ الْيَتِيمَةِ الَّتِي تَكُونُ فِي حَجْرِهِ حِينَ تَكُونُ ، قَلِيلَةَ الْمَالِ وَالْجَمَالِ ، فَنُهُوا أَنْ يَنْكِحُوا مَا رَغِبُوا فِي مَالِهَا وَجَمَالِهَا مِنْ يَتَامَى النِّسَاءِ إِلَّا بِالْقِسْطِ مِنْ أَجْلِ رَغْبَتِهِمْ عَنْهُنَّ " ،
'Urwa bin Zubair reported that he asked 'A'isha about the words of Allah: "If you fear that you will not be able to maintain equity amongst the orphan girls, then marry (those) you like from amongst the women two, three or four." She said: O, the son of my sister, the orphan girl is one who is under the patronage of her guardian and she shares with him in his property and her property and beauty fascinate him and her guardian makes up his mind to marry her without giving her due share of the wedding money and is not prepared (to pay so much amount) which anyone else is prepared to pay and so Allah has forbidden to marry these girls but in case when equity is observed as regards the wedding money and they are prepared to pay them the full amount of the wedding money and Allah commanded to marry other women besides them according to the liking of their heart. 'Urwa reported that 'A'isha said that people began to seek verdict from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) after the revelation of this verse about them (orphan girls) and Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, revealed this verse: "They asked thee verdict about women; say: Allah gives verdict to you in regard to them and what is recited to you in the Book about orphan woman, whom you give not what is ordained for them while you like to marry them" (iv. 126). She said: The wording of Allah "what is recited to you" in the Book means the first verse, i. e. "if you fear that you may not be able to observe equity in case of an orphan woman, marry what you like in case of woman" (iv. 3). 'A'isha said: (And as for this verse [iv. 126], i. e. and you intend "to marry one of them from amongst the orphan girls" it pertains to one who is in charge (of orphans) having small amount of wealth and less beauty and they have been forbidden that they should marry what they like of her wealth and beauty out of the orphan girls, but with equity, because of their disliking for them.
Hadith 3018
وحَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ عَائِشَةَ عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلَّا تُقْسِطُوا فِي الْيَتَامَى سورة النساء آية 3 ، وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ يُونُسَ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ وَزَادَ فِي آخِرِهِ ، مِنْ أَجْلِ رَغْبَتِهِمْ عَنْهُنَّ إِذَا كُنَّ قَلِيلَاتِ الْمَالِ وَالْجَمَالِ .
'Urwa reported that he asked 'A'isha about the words of Allah: "If you fear that you will not be able to observe equity in case of orphan girls" ; the rest of the hadith is the same but with a slight variation of wording.
Hadith 3018
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ فِي قَوْله " وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلَّا تُقْسِطُوا فِي الْيَتَامَى سورة النساء آية 3 ، قَالَتْ : أُنْزِلَتْ فِي الرَّجُلِ تَكُونُ لَهُ الْيَتِيمَةُ ، وَهُوَ وَلِيُّهَا وَوَارِثُهَا ، وَلَهَا مَالٌ وَلَيْسَ لَهَا أَحَدٌ يُخَاصِمُ دُونَهَا ، فَلَا يُنْكِحُهَا لِمَالِهَا ، فَيَضُرُّ بِهَا وَيُسِيءُ صُحْبَتَهَا ، فَقَالَ : وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلَّا تُقْسِطُوا فِي الْيَتَامَى فَانْكِحُوا مَا طَابَ لَكُمْ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ سورة النساء آية 3 ، يَقُولُ : مَا أَحْلَلْتُ لَكُمْ وَدَعْ هَذِهِ الَّتِي تَضُرُّ بِهَا " .
'A'isha said that as for the words of Allah: "If you fear that you would not be able to observe equity in case of orphan girls)," it was revealed in reference to a person who had an orphan girl (as his ward) and he was her guardian, and her heir, and she possessed property, but there was none to contend on her behalf except her ownself. And he (her guardian) did not give her in marriage because of her property and he tortured her and ill-treated her, it was in relation to her that (Allah said:) "If you fear that you would not be able to observe equity in case of orphan girls, then marry whom you like among women," i. e. whatever I have made lawful for you and leave her whom you are putting to torture.
Hadith 3018
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ فِي قَوْله " وَمَا يُتْلَى عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الْكِتَابِ فِي يَتَامَى النِّسَاءِ اللَّاتِي لا تُؤْتُونَهُنَّ مَا كُتِبَ لَهُنَّ وَتَرْغَبُونَ أَنْ تَنْكِحُوهُنَّ سورة النساء آية 127 ، قَالَتْ : أُنْزِلَتْ فِي الْيَتِيمَةِ تَكُونُ عِنْدَ الرَّجُلِ ، فَتَشْرَكُهُ فِي مَالِهِ ، فَيَرْغَبُ عَنْهَا أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَهَا وَيَكْرَهُ أَنْ يُزَوِّجَهَا غَيْرَهُ ، فَيَشْرَكُهُ فِي مَالِهِ ، فَيَعْضِلُهَا فَلَا يَتَزَوَّجُهَا وَلَا يُزَوِّجُهَا غَيْرَهُ " .
'A'isha said in connection with His words (those of Allah): "What is recited to you in the Book about orphan women whom you give not what is ordained for them, while you like to marry them," these were revealed in connection with an orphan girl who was in the custody of the person and she shared with him in his property and he was reluctant to marry her himself and was also unwilling to marry her to someone else (fearing) that (that person) would share in his property (as the husband of that girl), preventing her to marry, neither marrying her himself nor marrying her to another person.
Hadith 3018
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ فِي قَوْله " وَيَسْتَفْتُونَكَ فِي النِّسَاءِ قُلِ اللَّهُ يُفْتِيكُمْ فِيهِنَّ سورة النساء آية 127 الْآيَةَ ، قَالَتْ : هِيَ الْيَتِيمَةُ الَّتِي تَكُونُ عِنْدَ الرَّجُلِ لَعَلَّهَا أَنْ تَكُونَ قَدْ شَرِكَتْهُ فِي مَالِهِ حَتَّى فِي الْعَذْقِ ، فَيَرْغَبُ يَعْنِي أَنْ يَنْكِحَهَا وَيَكْرَهُ أَنْ يُنْكِحَهَا رَجُلًا ، فَيَشْرَكُهُ فِي مَالِهِ فَيَعْضِلُهَا " .
Hisham reported that 'A'isha said in connection with the words of Allah: "They ask thee the religious verdict about women, say: Allah gives you the verdict about them" (iv. 126), that these relate to an orphan girl who is in custody of the person and she shares with him in his property (as a heir) even in the date-palm trees and he is reluctant to give her hand in marriage to any other person lest he (her husband) should partake of his property, and thus keep her in a lingering state.
Hadith 3019
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ فِي قَوْله " وَمَنْ كَانَ فَقِيرًا فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ سورة النساء آية 6 ، قَالَتْ : أُنْزِلَتْ فِي وَالِي مَالِ الْيَتِيمِ الَّذِي يَقُومُ عَلَيْهِ وَيُصْلِحُهُ إِذَا كَانَ مُحْتَاجًا أَنْ يَأْكُلَ مِنْهُ " .
Hisham reported on the authority of his father that 'A'isha said in connection with His (Allah's) words: "And whoever is poor let him take reasonably (out of it)" that it was revealed in connection with the custodian of the property of an orphan, who is in charge of her and looks after her; In case he is poor, he is allowed to eat out of that.
Hadith 3019
(حديث موقوف) وَحَدَّثَنَا وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ فِي قَوْله تَعَالَى " وَمَنْ كَانَ غَنِيًّا فَلْيَسْتَعْفِفْ وَمَنْ كَانَ فَقِيرًا فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ سورة النساء آية 6 ، قَالَتْ : أُنْزِلَتْ فِي وَلِيِّ الْيَتِيمِ أَنْ يُصِيبَ مِنْ مَالِهِ إِذَا كَانَ مُحْتَاجًا بِقَدْرِ مَالِهِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ " ،
'A'isha reported in connection with the words of Allah, the Exalted: "He who is rich should abstain, and he who is poor may reasonably eat (out of it)" that this was revealed in relation to the guardian of an orphan who is poor; he may get out of that what is reasonable keeping in view his own status of solvency.
Hadith 3020
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلّ " إِذْ جَاءُوكُمْ مِنْ فَوْقِكُمْ وَمِنْ أَسْفَلَ مِنْكُمْ وَإِذْ زَاغَتِ الأَبْصَارُ وَبَلَغَتِ الْقُلُوبُ الْحَنَاجِرَ سورة الأحزاب آية 10 ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ ذَلِكَ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ " .
'A'isha reported that these words of Allah: "When they came upon you from above you and from below you and when the eyes turned dull and the hearts rose up to the throats" (xxxiii. 10) pertain to the day of Ditch.
Hadith 3021
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ " وَإِنِ امْرَأَةٌ خَافَتْ مِنْ بَعْلِهَا نُشُوزًا أَوْ إِعْرَاضًا سورة النساء آية 128 الْآيَةَ ، قَالَتْ : أُنْزِلَتْ فِي الْمَرْأَةِ تَكُونُ عِنْدَ الرَّجُلِ ، فَتَطُولُ صُحْبَتُهَا ، فَيُرِيدُ طَلَاقَهَا ، فَتَقُولُ : لَا تُطَلِّقْنِي وَأَمْسِكْنِي ، وَأَنْتَ فِي حِلٍّ مِنِّي فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ " .
'A'isha said in connection with the verse: "And if a woman has reason to fear ill-treatment from her husband or that he might turn away from her" (iv. 128) that it was revealed in case of a woman who had long association with a person (as his wife) and now he intends to divorce her and she says: Do not divorce me, but retain me (as wife in your house) and you are permitted to live with another wife. It is in this context that this verse was revealed.
Hadith 3021
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلّ " وَإِنِ امْرَأَةٌ خَافَتْ مِنْ بَعْلِهَا نُشُوزًا أَوْ إِعْرَاضًا سورة النساء آية 128 ، قَالَتْ : نَزَلَتْ فِي الْمَرْأَةِ تَكُونُ عِنْدَ الرَّجُلِ ، فَلَعَلَّهُ أَنْ لَا يَسْتَكْثِرَ مِنْهَا وَتَكُونُ لَهَا صُحْبَةٌ وَوَلَدٌ ، فَتَكْرَهُ أَنْ يُفَارِقَهَا ، فَتَقُولُ لَهُ : أَنْتَ فِي حِلٍّ مِنْ شَأْنِي " .
'A'isha said in connection with these words of Allah, the Exalted and Glorious: "And if a woman has reason to fear ill-treatment from her husband or that he might turn away from her" that it was revealed in case of a woman who lived with a person and perhaps he does not want to prolong (his relationship with her) whereas she has had sexual relationship with him (and as a result thereof) she got a child from him and she does not like that she should be divorced, so she says to him: I permit you to live with the other wife.
Hadith 3022
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَتْ لِي عَائِشَةُ يَا ابْنَ أُخْتِي " أُمِرُوا أَنْ يَسْتَغْفِرُوا لِأَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَبُّوهُمْ " ،
'Urwa reported on the authority of his father that 'A'isha said to him: O, the son of my sister, the Muslims were commanded to seek forgiveness for the Companions of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) but they reviled him.
