Hadith 1596
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قال : قال رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يُخَرِّبُ الْكَعْبَةَ ذُو السُّوَيْقَتَيْنِ مِنْ الْحَبَشَةِ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Dhus-Suwaiqatain (the thin legged man) from Ethiopia will demolish the Ka`ba."
Hadith 1622
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، قال يُونُسُ : قال ابْنُ شِهَابٍ : حَدَّثَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، " أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ بَعَثَهُ فِي الْحَجَّةِ الَّتِي أَمَّرَهُ عَلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْلَ حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ فِي رَهْطٍ يُؤَذِّنُ فِي النَّاسِ أَلَا لَا يَحُجُّ بَعْدَ الْعَامِ مُشْرِكٌ ، وَلَا يَطُوفُ بالبيت عُرْيَانٌ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: In the year prior to the last Hajj of the Prophet when Allah's Apostle made Abu Bakr the leader of the pilgrims, the latter (Abu Bakr) sent me in the company of a group of people to make a public announcement: 'No pagan is allowed to perform Hajj after this year, and no naked person is allowed to perform Tawaf of the Ka`ba.' (See Hadith No. 365 Vol. 1)
Hadith 1689
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى رَجُلًا يَسُوقُ بَدَنَةً ، فَقَالَ : ارْكَبْهَا ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ، فَقَالَ : ارْكَبْهَا ، قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ، قَالَ : ارْكَبْهَا ، وَيْلَكَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ أَوْ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira': Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) saw a man driving his Badana (sacrificial camel). He said, "Ride on it." The man said, "It is a Badana." The Prophet said, "Ride on it." He (the man) said, "It is a Badana." The Prophet said, "Ride on it." And on the second or the third time he (the Prophet ) added, "Woe to you."
Hadith 1706
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ هُوَ ابْنُ سَلَّامٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَرَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، " أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى رَجُلًا يَسُوقُ بَدَنَةً ، قَالَ : ارْكَبْهَا ، قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ، قَالَ : ارْكَبْهَا ، قَالَ : فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ رَاكِبَهَا يُسَايِرُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالنَّعْلُ فِي عُنُقِهَا " , تَابَعَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Narrated `Ikrima: Abu Huraira said, "The Prophet saw a man driving a Badana (sacrificial camel). The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said (to him), 'Ride on it.' He replied, 'It is a Badana.' The Prophet again said, 'Ride on it!' Abu Huraira added, 'Then I saw that man riding it, showing obedience to the Prophet (p.b.u.h), and a shoe was (hanging) from its neck.' " Narrated Abu Huraira: From the Prophet: (as above).
Hadith 1728
حَدَّثَنَا عَيَّاشُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَارَةُ بْنُ الْقَعْقَاعِ ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُحَلِّقِينَ ، قَالُوا : وَلِلْمُقَصِّرِينَ ؟ قَالَ : اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُحَلِّقِينَ ، قَالُوا : وَلِلْمُقَصِّرِينَ ؟ قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا ، قَالَ : وَلِلْمُقَصِّرِينَ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "O Allah! Forgive those who get their heads shaved." The people asked. "Also those who get their hair cut short?" The Prophet said, "O Allah! Forgive those who have their heads shaved." The people said, "Also those who get their hair cut short?" The Prophet (invoke Allah for those who have their heads shaved and) at the third time said, "also (forgive) those who get their hair cut short."
Hadith 1773
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ مَوْلَى أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ السَّمَّانِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : الْعُمْرَةُ إِلَى الْعُمْرَةِ كَفَّارَةٌ لِمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ، وَالْحَجُّ الْمَبْرُورُ لَيْسَ لَهُ جَزَاءٌ إِلَّا الْجَنَّةُ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "(The performance of) `Umra is an expiation for the sins committed (between it and the previous one). And the reward of Hajj Mabrur (the one accepted by Allah) is nothing except Paradise."
Hadith 1804
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " السَّفَرُ قِطْعَةٌ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ يَمْنَعُ أَحَدَكُمْ طَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ وَنَوْمَهُ ، فَإِذَا قَضَى نَهْمَتَهُ فَلْيُعَجِّلْ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Traveling is a kind of torture as it prevents one from eating, drinking and sleeping properly. So, when one's needs are fulfilled, one should return quickly to one's family."
Hadith 1819
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، سَمِعْتُ أَبَا حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ حَجَّ هَذَا الْبَيْتَ ، فَلَمْ يَرْفُثْ ، وَلَمْ يَفْسُقْ ، رَجَعَ كَمَا وَلَدَتْهُ أُمُّهُ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever performs Hajj to this House (Ka`ba) and does not approach his wife for sexual relations nor commits sins (while performing Hajj), he will come out as sinless as a newlyborn child. (Just delivered by his mother).
Hadith 1820
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ حَجَّ هَذَا الْبَيْتَ ، فَلَمْ يَرْفُثْ ، وَلَمْ يَفْسُقْ ، رَجَعَ كَيَوْمِ وَلَدَتْهُ أُمُّهُ " .

Hadith 1869
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَخِي ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " حُرِّمَ مَا بَيْنَ لَابَتَيْ الْمَدِينَةِ عَلَى لِسَانِي " ، قَالَ : وَأَتَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَنِي حَارِثَةَ ، فَقَالَ : أَرَاكُمْ يَا بَنِي حَارِثَةَ قَدْ خَرَجْتُمْ مِنْ الْحَرَمِ ، ثُمَّ الْتَفَتَ ، فَقَالَ : بَلْ أَنْتُمْ فِيهِ .
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "I have made Medina a sanctuary between its two (Harrat) mountains." The Prophet went to the tribe of Bani Haritha and said (to them), "I see that you have gone out of the sanctuary," but looking around, he added, "No, you are inside the sanctuary."
Hadith 1871
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْحُبَابِ سَعِيدَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَرَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أُمِرْتُ بِقَرْيَةٍ تَأْكُلُ الْقُرَى ، يَقُولُونَ يَثْرِبُ وَهِيَ الْمَدِينَةُ ، تَنْفِي النَّاسَ كَمَا يَنْفِي الْكِيرُ خَبَثَ الْحَدِيدِ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "I was ordered to migrate to a town which will swallow (conquer) other towns and is called Yathrib and that is Medina, and it turns out (bad) persons as a furnace removes the impurities of iron.
Hadith 1873
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ : " لَوْ رَأَيْتُ الظِّبَاءَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ تَرْتَعُ مَا ذَعَرْتُهَا ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَا بَيْنَ لَابَتَيْهَا حَرَامٌ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: If I saw deers grazing in Medina, I would not chase them, for Allah's Apostle said, "(Medina) is a sanctuary between its two mountains."
Hadith 1874
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَال : أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " يَتْرُكُونَ الْمَدِينَةَ عَلَى خَيْرِ ، مَا كَانَتْ لَا يَغْشَاهَا إِلَّا الْعَوَافِ ، يُرِيدُ عَوَافِيَ السِّبَاعِ وَالطَّيْرِ ، وَآخِرُ مَنْ يُحْشَرُ رَاعِيَانِ مِنْ مُزَيْنَةَ يُرِيدَانِ الْمَدِينَةَ يَنْعِقَانِ بِغَنَمِهِمَا ، فَيَجِدَانِهَا وَحْشًا ، حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَا ثَنِيَّةَ الْوَدَاعِ خَرَّا عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمَا " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "The people will leave Medina in spite of the best state it will have, and none except the wild birds and the beasts of prey will live in it, and the last persons who will die will be two shepherds from the tribe of Muzaina, who will be driving their sheep towards Medina, but will find nobody in it, and when they reach the valley of Thaniyat-al-Wada`, they will fall down on their faces dead."
Hadith 1876
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ خُبَيْبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْإِيمَانَ لَيَأْرِزُ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ كَمَا تَأْرِزُ الْحَيَّةُ إِلَى جُحْرِهَا " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Verily, Belief returns and goes back to Medina as a snake returns and goes back to its hole (when in danger).
Hadith 1880
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُجْمِرِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عَلَى أَنْقَابِ الْمَدِينَةِ مَلَائِكَةٌ ، لَا يَدْخُلُهَا الطَّاعُونُ ، وَلَا الدَّجَّالُ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "There are angels guarding the entrances (or roads) of Medina, neither plague nor Ad-Dajjal will be able to enter it."
Hadith 1888
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي خُبَيْبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَا بَيْنَ بَيْتِي وَمِنْبَرِي رَوْضَةٌ مِنْ رِيَاضِ الْجَنَّةِ ، وَمِنْبَرِي عَلَى حَوْضِي " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "There is a garden from the gardens of Paradise between my house and my pulpit, and my pulpit is on my Lake Fount (Al-Kauthar).
Hadith 1894
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ ، فَلَا يَرْفُثْ ، وَلَا يَجْهَلْ ، وَإِنِ امْرُؤٌ قَاتَلَهُ أَوْ شَاتَمَهُ ، فَلْيَقُلْ : إِنِّي صَائِمٌ مَرَّتَيْنِ ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ ، يَتْرُكُ طَعَامَهُ ، وَشَرَابَهُ ، وَشَهْوَتَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي الصِّيَامُ لِي ، وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَالْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Fasting is a shield (or a screen or a shelter). So, the person observing fasting should avoid sexual relation with his wife and should not behave foolishly and impudently, and if somebody fights with him or abuses him, he should tell him twice, 'I am fasting." The Prophet added, "By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, the smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk. (Allah says about the fasting person), 'He has left his food, drink and desires for My sake. The fast is for Me. So I will reward (the fasting person) for it and the reward of good deeds is multiplied ten times."
Hadith 1897
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مَعْنٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ أَنْفَقَ زَوْجَيْنِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ نُودِيَ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ : يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ ، هَذَا خَيْرٌ ، فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الصَّلَاةِ دُعِيَ مِنْ بَابِ الصَّلَاةِ ، وَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجِهَادِ دُعِيَ مِنْ بَابِ الْجِهَادِ ، وَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الصِّيَامِ دُعِيَ مِنْ بَابِ الرَّيَّانِ ، وَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الصَّدَقَةِ دُعِيَ مِنْ بَابِ الصَّدَقَةِ " ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا عَلَى مَنْ دُعِيَ مِنْ تِلْكَ الْأَبْوَابِ مِنْ ضَرُورَةٍ ، فَهَلْ يُدْعَى أَحَدٌ مِنْ تِلْكَ الْأَبْوَابِ كُلِّهَا ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، وَأَرْجُو أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنْهُمْ .
'Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever gives two kinds (of things or property) in charity for Allah's Cause, will be called from the gates of Paradise and will be addressed, 'O slaves of Allah! Here is prosperity.' So, whoever was amongst the people who used to offer their prayers, will be called from the gate of the prayer; and whoever was amongst the people who used to participate in Jihad, will be called from the gate of Jihad; and whoever was amongst those who used to observe fasts, will be called from the gate of Ar-Raiyan; whoever was amongst those who used to give in charity, will be called from the gate of charity." Abu Bakr said, "Let my parents be sacrificed for you, O Allah's Apostle! No distress or need will befall him who will be called from those gates. Will there be any one who will be called from all these gates?" The Prophet replied, "Yes, and I hope you will be one of them."
Hadith 1898
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا جَاءَ رَمَضَانُ فُتِحَتْ أَبْوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "When Ramadan begins, the gates of Paradise are opened."
Hadith 1899
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي أَنَسٍ مَوْلَى التَّيْمِيِّينَ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا دَخَلَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ ، فُتِّحَتْ أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ ، وَغُلِّقَتْ أَبْوَابُ جَهَنَّمَ ، وَسُلْسِلَتِ الشَّيَاطِينُ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained."
Hadith 1901
حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ قَامَ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا ، غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ ، وَمَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا ، غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Whoever established prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven; and whoever fasts in the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven."
Hadith 1903
حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ بْنُ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ الْمَقْبُرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ لَمْ يَدَعْ قَوْلَ الزُّورِ وَالْعَمَلَ بِهِ ، فَلَيْسَ لِلَّهِ حَاجَةٌ فِي أَنْ يَدَعَ طَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink (i.e. Allah will not accept his fasting.)"
Hadith 1904
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ الزَّيَّاتِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : قَالَ اللَّهُ : " كُلُّ عَمَلِ ابْنِ آدَمَ لَهُ ، إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ فَإِنَّهُ لِي ، وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ ، وَالصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ ، وَإِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ صَوْمِ أَحَدِكُمْ فَلَا يَرْفُثْ وَلَا يَصْخَبْ ، فَإِنْ سَابَّهُ أَحَدٌ أَوْ قَاتَلَهُ ، فَلْيَقُلْ : إِنِّي امْرُؤٌ صَائِمٌ ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ ، لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ ، لِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ يَفْرَحُهُمَا : إِذَا أَفْطَرَ فَرِحَ ، وَإِذَا لَقِيَ رَبَّهُ فَرِحَ بِصَوْمِهِ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Allah said, 'All the deeds of Adam's sons (people) are for them, except fasting which is for Me, and I will give the reward for it.' Fasting is a shield or protection from the fire and from committing sins. If one of you is fasting, he should avoid sexual relation with his wife and quarreling, and if somebody should fight or quarrel with him, he should say, 'I am fasting.' By Him in Whose Hands my soul is' The unpleasant smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk. There are two pleasures for the fasting person, one at the time of breaking his fast, and the other at the time when he will meet his Lord; then he will be pleased because of his fasting."
Hadith 1909
حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَوْ قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ ، فَإِنْ غُبِّيَ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَكْمِلُوا عِدَّةَ شَعْبَانَ ثَلَاثِينَ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet or Abul-Qasim said, "Start fasting on seeing the crescent (of Ramadan), and give up fasting on seeing the crescent (of Shawwal), and if the sky is overcast (and you cannot see it), complete thirty days of Sha'ban."
Hadith 1914
حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا يَتَقَدَّمَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ رَمَضَانَ بِصَوْمِ يَوْمٍ أَوْ يَوْمَيْنِ ، إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ رَجُلٌ كَانَ يَصُومُ صَوْمَهُ فَلْيَصُمْ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "None of you should fast a day or two before the month of Ramadan unless he has the habit of fasting (Nawafil) (and if his fasting coincides with that day) then he can fast that day."
Hadith 1925
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ مَوْلَى أَبِي بَكْرِ بنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بنِ الحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامِ بْنِ المُغِيرَةِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا بَكْرِ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ أَنَا وَأَبِي حِينَ دَخَلْنَا عَلَى عَائِشَةَ وَأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ أَخْبَرَ مَرْوَانَ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ ، وَأُمَّ سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَتَاهُ : " أَن رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُدْرِكُهُ الْفَجْرُ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ مِنْ أَهْلِهِ ، ثُمَّ يَغْتَسِلُ وَيَصُومُ " ، وَقَالَ مَرْوَانُ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ : أُقْسِمُ بِاللَّهِ ، لَتُقَرِّعَنَّ بِهَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، وَمَرْوَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : فَكَرِهَ ذَلِكَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، ثُمَّ قُدِّرَ لَنَا أَنْ نَجْتَمِعَ بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ ، وَكَانَتْ لِأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ هُنَالِكَ أَرْضٌ ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، لِأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ : إِنِّي ذَاكِرٌ لَكَ أَمْرًا ، وَلَوْلَا مَرْوَانُ أَقْسَمَ عَلَيَّ فِيهِ لَمْ أَذْكُرْهُ لَكَ ، فَذَكَرَ قَوْلَ عَائِشَةَ وَأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، فَقَالَ : كَذَلِكَ حَدَّثَنِي الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ وَهُنَّ أَعْلَمُ ، وَقَالَ هَمَّامٌ ، وَابْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَأْمُرُ بِالْفِطْرِ ، وَالْأَوَّلُ أَسْنَدُ .
Narrated `Aisha and Um Salama: At times Allah's Apostle used to get up in the morning in the state of Janaba after having sexual relations with his wives. He would then take a bath and fast.
Hadith 1926
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ مَوْلَى أَبِي بَكْرِ بنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بنِ الحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامِ بْنِ المُغِيرَةِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا بَكْرِ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ أَنَا وَأَبِي حِينَ دَخَلْنَا عَلَى عَائِشَةَ وَأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ أَخْبَرَ مَرْوَانَ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ ، وَأُمَّ سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَتَاهُ : " أَن رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُدْرِكُهُ الْفَجْرُ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ مِنْ أَهْلِهِ ، ثُمَّ يَغْتَسِلُ وَيَصُومُ " ، وَقَالَ مَرْوَانُ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ : أُقْسِمُ بِاللَّهِ ، لَتُقَرِّعَنَّ بِهَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، وَمَرْوَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : فَكَرِهَ ذَلِكَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، ثُمَّ قُدِّرَ لَنَا أَنْ نَجْتَمِعَ بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ ، وَكَانَتْ لِأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ هُنَالِكَ أَرْضٌ ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، لِأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ : إِنِّي ذَاكِرٌ لَكَ أَمْرًا ، وَلَوْلَا مَرْوَانُ أَقْسَمَ عَلَيَّ فِيهِ لَمْ أَذْكُرْهُ لَكَ ، فَذَكَرَ قَوْلَ عَائِشَةَ وَأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، فَقَالَ : كَذَلِكَ حَدَّثَنِي الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ وَهُنَّ أَعْلَمُ ، وَقَالَ هَمَّامٌ ، وَابْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَأْمُرُ بِالْفِطْرِ ، وَالْأَوَّلُ أَسْنَدُ .

Hadith 1933
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا نَسِيَ فَأَكَلَ وَشَرِبَ ، فَلْيُتِمَّ صَوْمَهُ ، فَإِنَّمَا أَطْعَمَهُ اللَّهُ وَسَقَاهُ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "If somebody eats or drinks forgetfully then he should complete his fast, for what he has eaten or drunk, has been given to him by Allah."
Hadith 1936
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ جُلُوسٌ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، هَلَكْتُ ، قَالَ : مَا لَكَ ؟ قَالَ : وَقَعْتُ عَلَى امْرَأَتِي وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : هَلْ تَجِدُ رَقَبَةً تُعْتِقُهَا ؟ قَالَ : لَا ، قَالَ : فَهَلْ تَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تَصُومَ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ ؟ قَالَ : لَا ، فَقَالَ : فَهَلْ تَجِدُ إِطْعَامَ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا ؟ قَالَ : لَا ، قَالَ : فَمَكَثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَبَيْنَا نَحْنُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ ، أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعَرَقٍ فِيهَا تَمْرٌ وَالْعَرَقُ الْمِكْتَلُ ، قَالَ : أَيْنَ السَّائِلُ ؟ فَقَالَ : أَنَا ، قَالَ : خُذْهَا فَتَصَدَّقْ بِهِ ، فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ : أَعَلَى أَفْقَرَ مِنِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَوَاللَّهِ مَا بَيْنَ لَابَتَيْهَا يُرِيدُ الْحَرَّتَيْنِ أَهْلُ بَيْتٍ أَفْقَرُ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِي ، فَضَحِكَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى بَدَتْ أَنْيَابُهُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : أَطْعِمْهُ أَهْلَكَ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: While we were sitting with the Prophet a man came and said, "O Allah's Apostle! I have been ruined." Allah's Apostle asked what was the matter with him. He replied "I had sexual intercourse with my wife while I was fasting." Allah's Apostle asked him, "Can you afford to manumit a slave?" He replied in the negative. Allah's Apostle asked him, "Can you fast for two successive months?" He replied in the negative. The Prophet asked him, "Can you afford to feed sixty poor persons?" He replied in the negative. The Prophet kept silent and while we were in that state, a big basket full of dates was brought to the Prophet . He asked, "Where is the questioner?" He replied, "I (am here)." The Prophet said (to him), "Take this (basket of dates) and give it in charity." The man said, "Should I give it to a person poorer than I? By Allah; there is no family between its (i.e. Medina's) two mountains who are poorer than I." The Prophet smiled till his premolar teeth became visible and then said, 'Feed your family with it."
Hadith 1937
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، " جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ الْأَخِرَ وَقَعَ عَلَى امْرَأَتِهِ فِي رَمَضَانَ ، فَقَالَ : أَتَجِدُ مَا تُحَرِّرُ رَقَبَةً ؟ قَالَ : لَا ، قَالَ : فَتَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تَصُومَ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ ؟ قَالَ : لَا ، قَالَ : أَفَتَجِدُ مَا تُطْعِمُ بِهِ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا ؟ قَالَ : لَا ، قَالَ : فَأُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعَرَقٍ فِيهِ تَمْرٌ وَهُوَ الزَّبِيلُ ، قَالَ : أَطْعِمْ هَذَا عَنْكَ ، قَالَ : عَلَى أَحْوَجَ مِنَّا مَا بَيْنَ لَابَتَيْهَا ، أَهْلُ بَيْتٍ أَحْوَجُ مِنَّا ، قَالَ : فَأَطْعِمْهُ أَهْلَكَ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: A man came to the Prophet and said, "I had sexual intercourse with my wife on Ramadan (while fasting)." The Prophet asked him, "Can you afford to manumit a slave?" He replied in the negative. The Prophet asked him, "Can you fast for two successive months?" He replied in the negative. He asked him, "Can you afford to feed sixty poor persons?" He replied in the negative. (Abu Huraira added): Then a basket full of dates was brought to the Prophet and he said (to that man), "Feed (poor people) with this by way of atonement." He said, "(Should I feed it) to poorer people than we? There is no poorer house than ours between its (Medina's) mountains." The Prophet said, "Then feed your family with it."
Hadith 1965
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْوِصَالِ فِي الصَّوْمِ " ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ : إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : وَأَيُّكُمْ مِثْلِي ، إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِ ، فَلَمَّا أَبَوْا أَنْ يَنْتَهُوا عَنِ الْوِصَالِ ، وَاصَلَ بِهِمْ يَوْمًا ، ثُمَّ يَوْمًا ، ثُمَّ رَأَوْا الْهِلَالَ ، فَقَالَ : لَوْ تَأَخَّرَ لَزِدْتُكُمْ ، كَالتَّنْكِيلِ لَهُمْ حِينَ أَبَوْا أَنْ يَنْتَهُوا .
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle forbade Al-Wisal in fasting. So, one of the Muslims said to him, "But you practice Al- Wisal. O Allah's Apostle!" The Prophet replied, "Who amongst you is similar to me? I am given food and drink during my sleep by my Lord." So, when the people refused to stop Al-Wisal (fasting continuously), the Prophet fasted day and night continuously along with them for a day and then another day and then they saw the crescent moon (of the month of Shawwal). The Prophet said to them (angrily), "If It (the crescent) had not appeared, I would have made you fast for a longer period." That was as a punishment for them when they refused to stop (practicing Al-Wisal).
Hadith 1966
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ هَمَّامٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْوِصَالَ " مَرَّتَيْنِ ، قِيلَ : إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ ، قَالَ : إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِ ، فَاكْلَفُوا مِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تُطِيقُونَ .
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said twice, "(O you people) Be cautious! Do not practice Al-Wisal." The people said to him, "But you practice Al-Wisal?" The Prophet replied, "My Lord gives me food and drink during my sleep. Do that much of deeds which is within your ability."
Hadith 1981
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو التَّيَّاحِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِثَلَاثٍ : صِيَامِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ ، وَرَكْعَتَيِ الضُّحَى ، وَأَنْ أُوتِرَ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَنَامَ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: My friend (the Prophet ) advised me to observe three things: (1) to fast three days a month; (2) to pray two rak`at of Duha prayer (forenoon prayer); and (3) to pray witr before sleeping.
Hadith 1985
حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصِ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لَا يَصُومَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، إِلَّا يَوْمًا قَبْلَهُ أَوْ بَعْدَهُ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard the Prophet saying, "None of you should fast on Friday unless he fasts a day before or after it."
Hadith 1993
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ مِينَا ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُهُ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " يُنْهَى عَنْ صِيَامَيْنِ وَبَيْعَتَيْنِ : الْفِطْرِ وَالنَّحْرِ ، وَالْمُلَامَسَةِ ، وَالْمُنَابَذَةِ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: Two fasts and two kinds of sale are forbidden: fasting on the day of `Id ul Fitr and `Id-ul-Adha and the kinds of sale called Mulamasa and Munabadha. (These two kinds of sale used to be practiced in the days of Pre-Islamic period of ignorance; Mulamasa means when you touch something displayed for sale you have to buy it; Munabadha means when the seller throws something to you, you have to buy it.)
Hadith 2008
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ لِرَمَضَانَ : مَنْ قَامَهُ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا ، غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah's Apostle saying regarding Ramadan, "Whoever prayed at night in it (the month of Ramadan) out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven."
Hadith 2009
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ قَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا ، غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ " ، قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ : فَتُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْأَمْرُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ ، ثُمَّ كَانَ الْأَمْرُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ فِي خِلَافَةِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، وَصَدْرًا مِنْ خِلَافَةِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا .
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever prayed at night the whole month of Ramadan out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven." Ibn Shihab (a sub-narrator) said, "Allah's Apostle died and the people continued observing that (i.e. Nawafil offered individually, not in congregation), and it remained as it was during the Caliphate of Abu Bakr and in the early days of 'Umar's Caliphate."
Hadith 2014
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : حَفِظْنَاهُ وَإِنَّمَا حَفِظَ مِنَ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ ، وَمَنْ قَامَ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ " ، تَابَعَهُ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ .
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Whoever fasted the month of Ramadan out of sincere Faith (i.e. belief) and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven, and whoever stood for the prayers in the night of Qadr out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven ."
Hadith 2044
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَصِينٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعْتَكِفُ فِي كُلِّ رَمَضَانٍ عَشْرَةَ أَيَّامٍ ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ الْعَامُ الَّذِي قُبِضَ فِيهِ ، اعْتَكَفَ عِشْرِينَ يَوْمًا " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet used to perform I`tikaf every year in the month of Ramadan for ten days, and when it was the year of his death, he stayed in I`tikaf for twenty days.
Hadith 2047
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، وَأَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : إِنَّكُمْ تَقُولُونَ : إِنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يُكْثِرُ الْحَدِيثَ عَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَتَقُولُونَ : مَا بَالُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ ، وَالْأَنْصَارِ ، لَا يُحَدِّثُونَ عَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، وَإِنَّ إِخْوَتِي مِنْ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ ، كَانَ يَشْغَلُهُمْ صَفْقٌ بِالْأَسْوَاقِ ، وَكُنْتُ أَلْزَمُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى مِلْءِ بَطْنِي ، فَأَشْهَدُ إِذَا غَابُوا ، وَأَحْفَظُ إِذَا نَسُوا ، وَكَانَ يَشْغَلُ إِخْوَتِي مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ عَمَلُ أَمْوَالِهِمْ ، وَكُنْتُ امْرَأً مِسْكِينًا مِنْ مَسَاكِينِ الصُّفَّةِ ، أَعِي حِينَ يَنْسَوْنَ ، وَقَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَدِيثٍ يُحَدِّثُهُ : " إِنَّهُ لَنْ يَبْسُطَ أَحَدٌ ثَوْبَهُ حَتَّى أَقْضِيَ مَقَالَتِي هَذِهِ ، ثُمَّ يَجْمَعَ إِلَيْهِ ثَوْبَهُ إِلَّا وَعَى مَا أَقُولُ ، فَبَسَطْتُ نَمِرَةً عَلَيَّ ، حَتَّى إِذَا قَضَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَقَالَتَهُ ، جَمَعْتُهَا إِلَى صَدْرِي ، فَمَا نَسِيتُ مِنْ مَقَالَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تِلْكَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: You people say that Abu Huraira tells many narrations from Allah's Apostle and you also wonder why the emigrants and Ansar do not narrate from Allah's Apostle as Abu Huraira does. My emigrant brothers were busy in the market while I used to stick to Allah's Apostle content with what fills my stomach; so I used to be present when they were absent and I used to remember when they used to forget, and my Ansari brothers used to be busy with their properties and I was one of the poor men of Suffa. I used to remember the narrations when they used to forget. No doubt, Allah's Apostle once said, "Whoever spreads his garment till I have finished my present speech and then gathers it to himself, will remember whatever I will say." So, I spread my colored garment which I was wearing till Allah's Apostle had finished his saying, and then I gathered it to my chest. So, I did not forget any of that narrations.
