Hadith 1207
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى ضُبَاعَةَ بِنْتِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، فَقَالَ لَهَا : " أَرَدْتِ الْحَجَّ ؟ " ، قَالَتْ : وَاللَّهِ مَا أَجِدُنِي إِلَّا وَجِعَةً ، فَقَالَ لَهَا : " حُجِّي وَاشْتَرِطِي ، وَقُولِي : اللَّهُمَّ مَحِلِّي حَيْثُ حَبَسْتَنِي " ، وَكَانَتْ تَحْتَ الْمِقْدَادِ .
A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) went (into the house of) Duba'a bint Zubair and said to her: Did you intend to perform Hajj? She said: By Allah, (I intend to do so) but I often remain ill, whereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said to her: Perform Hajj but with condition, and say: O Allah, I shall be free from Ihram where you detain me. And she (Duba'a) was the wife of Miqdad.
Hadith 1219
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : " كَانَتِ الْعَرَبُ تَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ عُرَاةً إِلَّا الْحُمْسَ وَالْحُمْسُ قُرَيْشٌ ، وَمَا وَلَدَتْ كَانُوا يَطُوفُونَ عُرَاةً إِلَّا أَنْ تُعْطِيَهُمُ الْحُمْسُ ثِيَابًا ، فَيُعْطِي الرِّجَالُ الرِّجَالَ وَالنِّسَاءُ النِّسَاءَ ، وَكَانَتِ الْحُمْسُ لَا يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الْمُزْدَلِفَةِ ، وَكَانَ النَّاسُ كُلُّهُمْ يَبْلُغُونَ عَرَفَاتٍ " ، قَالَ هِشَامٌ : فَحَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : " الْحُمْسُ هُمُ الَّذِينَ أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِيهِمْ : ثُمَّ أَفِيضُوا مِنْ حَيْثُ أَفَاضَ النَّاسُ سورة البقرة آية 199 ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ النَّاسُ يُفِيضُونَ مِنْ عَرَفَاتٍ وَكَانَ الْحُمْسُ يُفِيضُونَ مِنَ الْمُزْدَلِفَةِ يَقُولُونَ : لَا نُفِيضُ إِلَّا مِنَ الْحَرَمِ ، فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ أَفِيضُوا مِنْ حَيْثُ أَفَاضَ النَّاسُ سورة البقرة آية 199 رَجَعُوا إِلَى عَرَفَاتٍ " .
Hisham narrated on the authority of his father that the Arabs with the exception of Hums who were Quraish, and their descendants, circumambulated the House naked. They kept circumambulating in this state of nudity unless the Hums supplied to them the clothes. The male provided (clothes) to the male and the female provided clothes to the female. And the Hums did not get out of Muzdalifa, whereas the people (other than the Quraish) went to 'Arafat. Hisham said on the authority of his father who related from 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) who said: Hums are those about whom Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, revealed this verse: "Then hasten to where the people hasten." She (further) said: The people hastened on from 'Arafat, whereas Hums hastened from Muzdalifa, and said: We do not hasten but from Haram. But when this (verse) was revealed: "Hasten on from that (place) where the people hasten on," they (the Quraish) then went to 'Arafat.
Hadith 1229
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ حَفْصَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ مَالِكٍ : " فَلَا أَحِلُّ حَتَّى أَنْحَرَ " .
Hafsa (Allah be pleased with her) said: Messenger of Allah; the rest of the hadith is the same and (the concluding words of the Holy Prophet): "I won't put off Ihram until I have sacrificed the animal."
Hadith 1258
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " دَخَلَ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ مِنْ كَدَاءٍ مِنْ أَعْلَى مَكَّةَ " ، قَالَ هِشَامٌ : فَكَانَ أَبِي يَدْخُلُ مِنْهُمَا كِلَيْهِمَا ، وَكَانَ أَبِي أَكْثَرَ مَا يَدْخُلُ مِنْ كَدَاءٍ .
A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) entered Makkah during the year of Victory from Kada i.e from the upper side. Hisham said: My father entered it from both the sides, but generally he entered from Kada.
Hadith 1277
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ : مَا أَرَى عَلَيَّ جُنَاحًا أَنْ لَا أَتَطَوَّفَ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا ، وَالْمَرْوَةِ ، قَالَتْ : لِمَ ؟ قُلْتُ : لِأَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلّ يَقُولُ : إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِنْ شَعَائِرِ اللَّهِ سورة البقرة آية 158 ، الْآيَةَ ، فَقَالَتْ : " لَوْ كَانَ كَمَا تَقُولُ لَكَانَ ، فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ لَا يَطَّوَّفَ بِهِمَا ، إِنَّمَا أُنْزِلَ هَذَا فِي أُنَاسٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ ، كَانُوا إِذَا أَهَلُّوا أَهَلُّوا لِمَنَاةَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَلَا يَحِلُّ لَهُمْ أَنْ يَطَّوَّفُوا بَيْنَ الصَّفَا ، وَالْمَرْوَةِ ، فَلَمَّا قَدِمُوا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلْحَجِّ ذَكَرُوا ذَلِكَ لَهُ ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ ، فَلَعَمْرِي مَا أَتَمَّ اللَّهُ حَجَّ مَنْ لَمْ يَطُفْ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا ، وَالْمَرْوَةِ " .
Hisham bin 'Urwa narrated on the authority of his father who reported: I said to 'A'isha: I do not see any harm to me if I do not circumambulate between al-Safa' and al-Marwah. She said: On what ground do you say so? (I said:) Since Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, says: "Verily al-Safa' and al-Marwah are among the Signs of Allah." If (your assertion) were (correct), it would have been said like this: "There is no harm for him, that he should not circumambulate between them." It (this verse) has been revealed about the people of Ansar. Whenever they pronounced the Talbiya, they pronounced it in the name of al-Manat during the Days of Ignorance; so they (thought) that it was not permissible for them (for the Muslims) to circumambulate between and al-Marwah. When they (the Muslims) came with Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) (may peace he upon him) for Hajj, they mentioned it to him. So Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, revealed this verse. By my life, Allah will not complete the Hajj of one who has not circumambulated between al-Safa and al-Marwah.
Hadith 1315
حدثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حدثنا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَأَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، قَالَا : حدثنا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ . ح وحدثنا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حدثنا أَبِي ، حدثنا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ : أَنَّ الْعَبَّاسَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ : اسْتَأْذَنَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَبِيتَ بِمَكَّةَ لَيَالِي مِنًى مِنْ أَجْلِ سِقَايَتِهِ فَأَذِنَ لَهُ " ،
Ibn 'Umar (RA) reported that al-'A'bbas bin Abdul Muttalib (RA) sought permission from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) to spend in Makkah the nights (which he was required to spend) at Mina on account of his being a supplier of water, and he (the Holy Prophet) granted him permission.
Hadith 1329
وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حدثنا يَحْيَى وَهُوَ الْقَطَّانُ . ح وحدثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حدثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ . ح وحدثنا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حدثنا عَبْدَةُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْبَيْتَ ، وَمَعَهُ أُسَامَةُ ، وَبِلَالٌ ، وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ ، فَأَجَافُوا عَلَيْهِمُ الْبَابَ طَوِيلًا ، ثُمَّ فُتِحَ فَكُنْتُ أَوَّلَ مَنْ دَخَلَ ، فَلَقِيتُ بِلَالًا ، فَقُلْتُ : أَيْنَ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ فقَالَ : " بَيْنَ الْعَمُودَيْنِ الْمُقَدَّمَيْنِ " ، فَنَسِيتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ كَمْ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Ibn 'Umar (RA) reported: Allah's Messenger, (ﷺ) entered the House, and Usama, Bilal (RA) and 'Uthman bin Talha were with him, and they kept the door closed for a considerable time. Then it was opened and I was the first to enter the House and meet Bilal (RA) , and I said: Where did Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) observe prayer? He said: Between these two front pillars. I, however, forgot to ask him the number of rak'ahs that he observed.
Hadith 1336
حدثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، حدثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : رَفَعَتِ امْرَأَةٌ صَبِيًّا لَهَا ، فقَالَت : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَلِهَذَا حَجٌّ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، وَلَكِ أَجْرٌ " .
Ibn Abbas (RA) reported: A woman lifted up her child and said: Messenger of Allah, would the child be credited with having performed the Hajj? Thereupon he said: Yes, and there would be a reward for you.
Hadith 1338
وحدثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حدثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَأَبُو أُسَامَةَ . ح وحدثنا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حدثنا أَبِي ، جَمِيعًا عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ ، فِي رِوَايَةِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ : فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ ، وقَالَ ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ : عَنْ أَبِيهِ : ثَلَاثَةً إِلَّا وَمَعَهَا ذُو مَحْرَمٍ .
This hadith has been narrated on the same authority by Ubaidullah. And in the narration of Abu Bakr (RA) (the words are): "More than three (days)." Ibn Numair narrated on the authority of his father, (and the words are): "Three (days) except (when) she has a Mahram with her."
Hadith 1344
حدثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حدثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حدثنا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ . ح وحدثنا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حدثنا يَحْيَى وَهُوَ الْقَطَّانُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا قَفَلَ مِنَ الْجُيُوشِ ، أَوِ السَّرَايَا ، أَوِ الْحَجِّ ، أَوِ الْعُمْرَةِ ، إِذَا أَوْفَى عَلَى ثَنِيَّةٍ ، أَوْ فَدْفَدٍ ، كَبَّرَ ثَلَاثًا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ ، وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ، آيِبُونَ ، تَائِبُونَ ، عَابِدُونَ ، سَاجِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ ، صَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَعْدَهُ ، وَنَصَرَ عَبْدَهُ ، وَهَزَمَ الْأَحْزَابَ وَحْدَهُ " ،
Abdullah bin 'Umar reported that whenever Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came back from the battle or from expeditions or from Hajj or 'Umrah and as he reached the top of the hillock or upon the elevated hard ground, he uttered Allah-o-Akbar thrice, and then said: There is no god but Allah. He is One, there is no partner with Him, His is the sovereignty and His is the praise and He is Potent over everything. (We are) returning, repenting, worshipping, prostrating before our Lord, and we praise Him Allah fulfilled His promise and helped His servant, and routed the confederates Alone.
Hadith 1359
وحدثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَالْحَسَنُ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ، قَالَا : حدثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ مُسَاوِرٍ الْوَرَّاقِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي ، وَفِي رِوَايَةِ الْحُلْوَانِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ جَعْفَرَ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ، وَعَلَيْهِ عِمَامَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ قَدْ أَرْخَى طَرَفَيْهَا بَيْنَ كَتِفَيْهِ " ، وَلَمْ يَقُلْ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ .
Ja'far bin 'Amr bin Huraith reported his father as saying: As if I am seeing Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) on the pulpit with a black turban on his head, and its two ends hanging between his shoulders. Abu Bakr (RA) (another narrator) did not make mention of: "Upon the pulpit".
Hadith 1374
حدثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، جَمِيعًا عَنْ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ وَاللَّفْظُ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ ، وَابْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَا : حدثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنِّي حَرَّمْتُ مَا بَيْنَ لَابَتَيِ الْمَدِينَةِ كَمَا حَرَّمَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ مَكَّةَ " ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ كَانَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ يَأْخُذُ ، وقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : يَجِدُ أَحَدَنَا فِي يَدِهِ الطَّيْرُ فَيَفُكُّهُ مِنْ يَدِهِ ثُمَّ يُرْسِلُهُ .
Abdul Rahman reported on the authority of his father Abu Sa'id (RA) that he heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: I have declared sacred what is between the two lava grounds of Madinah just as Ibrahim (peace be upon him) declared Makkah as sacred. He (the narrator) then said: Abu Sa'id caught hold of (Abu Bakr, another narrator, used the word "found") a bird in his hand and then released it from his hand and set it free.
Hadith 1376
وحدثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حدثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ .
This hadith has been narrated by Hisham bin 'Urwa with the same chain of transmitters.
Hadith 1395
وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَأَبُو أُسَامَةَ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حدثنا أَبِي . ح وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ ،
A hadith like this has been narrated on the authority of Ubaidullah with the same chain of transmitters.
Hadith 1399
وحدثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حدثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَأَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ . ح وحدثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، حدثنا أَبِي ، حدثنا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَأْتِي مَسْجِدَ قُبَاءٍ رَاكِبًا وَمَاشِيًا ، فَيُصَلِّي فِيهِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ " ، قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ : قَالَ ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ : فَيُصَلِّي فِيهِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ .
Ibn 'Umar (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to the mosque at Quba' riding and on foot, and he observed two rak'ahs of (Nafl prayer) in it.
Hadith 1408
حدثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حدثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم ، قَالَ : " لَا يَخْطُبُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ ، وَلَا يَسُومُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ ، وَلَا تُنْكَحُ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى عَمَّتِهَا ، وَلَا عَلَى خَالَتِهَا ، وَلَا تَسْأَلُ الْمَرْأَةُ طَلَاقَ أُخْتِهَا لِتَكْتَفِئَ صَحْفَتَهَا وَلْتَنْكِحْ ، فَإِنَّمَا لَهَا مَا كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهَا " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: A man must not make proposal of marriage to a woman when his brother has done so already. And he must not offer a price for a thing for which his brother had already offered a price; and a woman must not be combined in marriage with her father's sister, nor with her mother's sister, and a woman must not ask to have her sister divorced in order to deprive her of what belongs to her, but she must marry, because she will have what Allah has decreed for her.
Hadith 1416
حدثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حدثنا ابْنُ نُمَيْر ، وَأَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الشِّغَارِ " ، زَادَ ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ : وَالشِّغَارُ : أَنْ يَقُولَ الرَّجُلُ لِلرَّجُلِ : زَوِّجْنِي ابْنَتَكَ ، وَأُزَوِّجُكَ ابْنَتِي ، أَوْ زَوِّجْنِي أُخْتَكَ ، وَأُزَوِّجُكَ أُخْتِي ،
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) prohibited Shighar. Ibn Numair added: Shighar means that a person should say to the other person: Give me the hand of your daughter in marriage and I will (in return) marry my daughter to you; or marry me your sister, and I will marry my sister to you.
Hadith 1422
حدثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، حدثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ . ح وحدثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِي ، عَنْ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : " تَزَوَّجَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِسِتِّ سِنِينَ ، وَبَنَى بِي وَأَنَا بِنْتُ تِسْعِ سِنِينَ " ، قَالَت : فَقَدِمْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ ، فَوُعِكْتُ شَهْرًا فَوَفَى شَعْرِي جُمَيْمَةً ، فَأَتَتْنِي أُمُّ رُومَانَ ، وَأَنَا عَلَى أُرْجُوحَةٍ وَمَعِي صَوَاحِبِي ، فَصَرَخَتْ بِي فَأَتَيْتُهَا ، وَمَا أَدْرِي مَا تُرِيدُ بِي ، فَأَخَذَتْ بِيَدِي فَأَوْقَفَتْنِي عَلَى الْبَابِ ، فَقُلْتُ : هَهْ هَهْ حَتَّى ذَهَبَ نَفَسِي ، فَأَدْخَلَتْنِي بَيْتًا ، فَإِذَا نِسْوَةٌ مِن الْأَنْصَارِ ، فَقُلْنَ عَلَى الْخَيْرِ وَالْبَرَكَةِ وَعَلَى خَيْرِ طَائِرٍ ، فَأَسْلَمَتْنِي إِلَيْهِنَّ ، فَغَسَلْنَ رَأْسِي وَأَصْلَحْنَنِي ، فَلَمْ يَرُعْنِي إِلَّا وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ضُحًى ، فَأَسْلَمْنَنِي إِلَيْهِ " .
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) married me when I was six years old, and I was admitted to his house at the age of nine. She further said: We went to Madinah and I had an attack of fever for a month, and my hair had come down to the earlobes. Umm Ruman (my mother) came to me and I was at that time on a swing along with my playmates. She called me loudly and I went to her and I did not know what she had wanted of me. She took hold of my hand and took me to the door, and I was saying: Ha, ha (as if I was gasping), until the agitation of my heart was over. She took me to a house, where had gathered the women of the Ansar. They all blessed me and wished me good luck and said: May you have share in good. She (my mother) entrusted me to them. They washed my head and embellished me and nothing frightened me. Allah's Messenger ( may peace be upon him) came there in the morning, and I was entrusted to him.
Hadith 1433
حدثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، حدثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، سُئِلَ عَنِ الْمَرْأَةِ يَتَزَوَّجُهَا الرَّجُلُ ، فَيُطَلِّقُهَا فَتَتَزَوَّجُ رَجُلًا ، فَيُطَلِّقُهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ بِهَا أَتَحِلُّ لِزَوْجِهَا الْأَوَّلِ ، قَالَ : " لَا حَتَّى يَذُوقَ عُسَيْلَتَهَا " ،
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was asked about a woman whom a man married and then divorced her, and then she married (another) person, and she was divorced before sexual intercourse with her, whether it was lawful for her first husband (to marry her in this state). He (the Holy Prophet) said: No, until he has tasted her sweetness.
Hadith 1437
وحدثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، قَالَا : حدثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ مِنْ أَعْظَمِ الْأَمَانَةِ ، عَنْدَ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الرَّجُلَ يُفْضِي إِلَى امْرَأَتِهِ وَتُفْضِي إِلَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ يَنْشُرُ سِرَّهَا " ، وَقَالَ ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ : إِنَّ أَعْظَمَ .
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The most important of the trusts in the sight of Allah on the Day of Judgment is that a man goes to his wife and she goes to him (and the breach of this trust is) that he should divulge her secret. Ibn Numair narrates this hadith with a slight change of wording.
Hadith 1444
وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ حدثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْهُذَلِيُّ ، حدثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ هَاشِمِ بْنِ الْبَرِيدِ ، جَمِيعًا عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الْوِلَادَةِ " .
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Fosterage makes unlawful what consanguinity makes unlawful.
Hadith 1449
حدثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، حدثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنا هِشَامٌ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَت : دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : هَلْ لَكَ فِي أُخْتِي بِنْتِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، فقَالَ : " أَفْعَلُ مَاذَا " ، قُلْتُ : تَنْكِحُهَا ، قَالَ : " أَوَ تُحِبِّينَ ذَلِكِ " ، قُلْتُ : لَسْتُ لَكَ بِمُخْلِيَةٍ وَأَحَبُّ مَنْ شَرِكَنِي فِي الْخَيْرِ أُخْتِي ، قَالَ : " فَإِنَّهَا لَا تَحِلُّ لِي " ، قُلْتُ : فَإِنِّي أُخْبِرْتُ أَنَّكَ تَخْطُبُ دُرَّةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : " بِنْتَ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ " ، قُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " لَوْ أَنَّهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ رَبِيبَتِي فِي حِجْرِي ، مَا حَلَّتْ لِي ، إِنَّهَا ابْنَةُ أَخِي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ ، أَرْضَعَتْنِي وَأَبَاهَا ثُوَيْبَةُ ، فَلَا تَعْرِضْنَ عَلَيَّ بَنَاتِكُنَّ ، وَلَا أَخَوَاتِكُنَّ " .
Umm Habiba, the daughter of AbuSufyan, reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to me and I said to him: Have you any inclination towards my sister, the daughter of Abu Sufyan (RA) ? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Then what should I do? I said: Marry her. He said: Do you like that? I said: I am not the exclusive (wife) of yours; I, therefore, wish to join my sister in good. He, said: She is not lawful for me. I said: I have been informed that you have given the proposal of marriage to Durrah daughter of Abu Salama. He said: You mean the daughter of Umm Salamah? I said: Yes. He said: Even if she had not been my step-daughter brought up under my guardianship, she would not have been lawful for me, for she is the daughter of my foster-brother (Hamza), for Thuwabia had suckled me and her father. So do not give me the proposal of the marriage of your daughters and sisters.
Hadith 1464
حدثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، حدثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : " كُنْتُ أَغَارُ عَلَى اللَّاتِي وَهَبْنَ أَنْفُسَهُنَّ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَأَقُولُ وَتَهَبُ الْمَرْأَةُ نَفْسَهَا فَلَمَّا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : تُرْجِي مَنْ تَشَاءُ مِنْهُنَّ وَتُؤْوِي إِلَيْكَ مَنْ تَشَاءُ وَمَنِ ابْتَغَيْتَ مِمَّنْ عَزَلْتَ سورة الأحزاب آية 51 ، قَالَت : قُلْتُ : وَاللَّهِ مَا أَرَى رَبَّكَ إِلَّا يُسَارِعُ لَكَ فِي هَوَاكَ " .
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: I felt jealous of the women who offered themselves to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said: Then when Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, revealed this: "You may defer any one of them you wish, and take to yourself any you wish; and if you desire any you have set aside (no sin is chargeable to you)" (xxxiii. 51), I ('A'isha.) said: It seems to me that your Lord hastens to satisfy your desire.
Hadith 1474
حدثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، وَهَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَا : حدثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُحِبُّ الْحَلْوَاءَ وَالْعَسَلَ ، فَكَانَ إِذَا صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ دَارَ عَلَى نِسَائِهِ فَيَدْنُو مِنْهُنَّ ، فَدَخَلَ عَلَى حَفْصَةَ ، فَاحْتَبَسَ عَنْدَهَا أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا كَانَ يَحْتَبِسُ ، فَسَأَلْتُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ : فَقِيلَ لِي : أَهْدَتْ لَهَا امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ قَوْمِهَا عُكَّةً مِنْ عَسَلٍ ، فَسَقَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْهُ شَرْبَةً ، فَقُلْتُ : أَمَا وَاللَّهِ لَنَحْتَالَنَّ لَهُ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِسَوْدَةَ ، وَقُلْتُ : إِذَا دَخَلَ عَلَيْكِ ، فَإِنَّهُ سَيَدْنُو مِنْكِ ، فَقُولِي لَهُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَكَلْتَ مَغَافِيرَ ، فَإِنَّهُ سَيَقُولُ لَكِ : لَا ، فَقُولِي لَهُ : مَا هَذِهِ الرِّيح وكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَشْتَدُّ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يُوجَدَ مِنْهُ الرِّيحُ ، فَإِنَّهُ سَيَقُولُ لَكِ : سَقَتْنِي حَفْصَةُ شَرْبَةَ عَسَلٍ ، فَقُولِي لَهُ : جَرَسَتْ نَحْلُهُ الْعُرْفُطَ ، وَسَأَقُولُ ذَلِكِ لَهُ ، وَقُولِيهِ أَنْتِ يَا صَفِيَّةُ ، فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ عَلَى سَوْدَةَ ، قَالَت : تَقُولُ سَوْدَةُ : وَالَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ لَقَدْ كِدْتُ أَنْ أُبَادِئَهُ بِالَّذِي قُلْتِ لِي ، وَإِنَّهُ لَعَلَى الْبَابِ ، فَرَقًا مِنْكِ ، فَلَمَّا دَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَت : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَكَلْتَ مَغَافِيرَ ؟ قَالَ : " لَا " ، قَالَت : فَمَا هَذِهِ الرِّيح ؟ قَالَ : " سَقَتْنِي حَفْصَةُ شَرْبَةَ عَسَلٍ " ، قَالَت : جَرَسَتْ نَحْلُهُ الْعُرْفُطَ ، فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ قُلْتُ لَهُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ عَلَى صَفِيَّةَ ، فقَالَت بِمِثْلِ ذَلِكَ ، فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ عَلَى حَفْصَةَ ، قَالَت : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَلَا أَسْقِيكَ مِنْهُ ، قَالَ : لَا حَاجَةَ لِي بِهِ ، قَالَت : تَقُولُ سَوْدَةُ : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ ، وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ حَرَمْنَاهُ ، قَالَت : قُلْتُ لَهَا : اسْكُتِي ، قَالَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ : حدثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ بِشْرِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ ، حدثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، بِهَذَا سَوَاءً ،
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) liked sweet (dish) and honey. After saying the afternoon prayer he used to visit his wives going close to them. So he went to Hafsa and stayed with her more than what was his usual stay. I ('A'isha) asked about that. It was said to me: A woman of her family had sent her a small vessel of honey as a gift, and she gave to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) from that a drink. I said: By Allah, we would also contrive a device for him. I mentioned that to Sauda, and said: When he (Allah's Apostle) (ﷺ) would visit you and draw close to you, say to him: Allah's Messenger, have you taken maghafir? And he would'say to you: No. Then say to him: What is this odour? And Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) felt it very much that unpleasant odour should emit from him. So he would say to you: Hafsa has given me a drink of honey. Then you should say to him: The honey-bees might have sucked 'Urfut, and I would also say the same to him and. Safiyya, you should also say this. So when he (the Holy Prophet) came to Sauda, she said: By Him besides whom there is no god, it was under compulsion that I had decided to state that which you told me when he would be at a little distance at the door. So when Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came near, she said: Messenger of Allah, did you eat Maghafir? He said: No. She (again) said: Then what is this odour? He said: Hafsa gave me honey to drink. She said: The honey-bee might have sucked 'Urfut. When he came to me I told him like this. He then visited Safiyya and she also said to him like this. When he (again) visited Hafsa, she said: Messenger of Allah, should I not give you that (drink)? He said: I do not need that. Sauda said: Hallowed be Allah, by Him we have (contrived) to make that (honey) unlawful for him. I said to her: Keep quiet.
Hadith 1481
وحدثنا وحدثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حدثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، قَالَ : تَزَوَّجَ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ بِنْتَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ ، فَطَلَّقَهَا فَأَخْرَجَهَا مِنْ عَنْدِهِ ، فَعَابَ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِمْ عُرْوَةُ ، فقَالُوا : إِنَّ فَاطِمَةَ قَدْ خَرَجَتْ ، قَالَ عُرْوَةُ : فَأَتَيْتُ عَائِشَةَ ، فَأَخْبَرْتُهَا بِذَلِكَ ، فقَالَت : " مَا لِفَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ خَيْرٌ فِي أَنْ تَذْكُرَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ " .
Hisham reported on the authority of his father that Yahya bin Sa'id bin al-'As married the daughter of 'Abdul Rahman bin al-Hakam, and he divorced her and he turned her out from his house. 'Urwa (RA) criticised this (action) of theirs (the members of the family of her in-laws). They said: Verily, Fatima too went out (of her in-laws' house). 'Urwa said: I came to 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) and told her about it and she said: There is no good for Fatima bint Qais (Allah be pleased with her) in making mention of it.
Hadith 1494
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " لَاعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ رَجُلٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ وَامْرَأَتِهِ ، وَفَرَّقَ بَيْنَهُمَا " .
Ibn 'Umar (RA) reported: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) asked a person from the Ansar and his wife to invoke curse (upon one another in order to testify to their truthfulness), and then effected separation between them.
Hadith 1504
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : دَخَلَتْ عَلَيَّ بَرِيرَةُ ، فَقَالَتْ : إِنَّ أَهْلِي كَاتَبُونِي عَلَى تِسْعِ أَوَاقٍ ، فِي تِسْعِ سِنِينَ فِي كُلِّ سَنَةٍ أُوقِيَّةٌ ، فَأَعِينِينِي ، فَقُلْتُ لَهَا : إِنْ شَاءَ أَهْلُكِ أَنْ أَعُدَّهَا لَهُمْ عَدَّةً وَاحِدَةً ، وَأُعْتِقَكِ وَيَكُونَ الْوَلَاءُ لِي ، فَعَلْتُ فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لِأَهْلِهَا ، فَأَبَوْا إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ الْوَلَاءُ لَهُمْ ، فَأَتَتْنِي فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ ، قَالَتْ : فَانْتَهَرْتُهَا ، فَقَالَتْ : لَا هَا اللَّهِ إِذَا قَالَتْ ، فَسَمِعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَأَلَنِي ، فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ ، فَقَالَ : " اشْتَرِيهَا وَأَعْتِقِيهَا ، وَاشْتَرِطِي لَهُمُ الْوَلَاءَ ، فَإِنَّ الْوَلَاءَ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ " ، فَفَعَلْتُ ، قَالَتْ : ثُمَّ خَطَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَشِيَّةً ، فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ بِمَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَمَا بَالُ أَقْوَامٍ يَشْتَرِطُونَ شُرُوطًا لَيْسَتْ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ ، مَا كَانَ مِنْ شَرْطٍ لَيْسَ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، فَهُوَ بَاطِلٌ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ مِائَةَ شَرْطٍ كِتَابُ اللَّهِ أَحَقُّ وَشَرْطُ اللَّهِ أَوْثَقُ ، مَا بَالُ رِجَالٍ مِنْكُمْ يَقُولُ أَحَدُهُمْ أَعْتِقْ فُلَانًا وَالْوَلَاءُ لِي إِنَّمَا الْوَلَاءُ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ "
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: Barira came to me and said: My family (owners) have made contract with me (for granting freedom) for nine 'uqiyas (of silver) payable in nine years, one 'uqiya every year. Help me (in making this payment). I said to her: If your family so desires, I am prepared to make them the full payment in one instalment, and thus secure freedom for you, but the right of inheritance will vest in me, if I do so. She (Barira) made a mention of that to her family, but they refused (except) on the condition that the right of inheritance would vest in them. She came to me and made mention of if. She ('A'isha) said: I scolded her. She (Barira) said: By Allah, it is not possible (they will never agree to it). And as she was saying it, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) heard, and he asked me, I informed him and he said: Buy her and emancipate her, and let the right of inheritance vest in them, for they cannot claim it (rightfully) since the right of inherritance vests with one who emancipates (the slave; therefore, these people have no right to lay such false claims). And I did so. She ('A'isha) said: Then Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) delivered a sermon in the evening. He extolled Allah and praised Him with what He deserves, and then said afterwards,: What has happened to the people that they lay down conditions which are not found in the Book of Allah? And the condition which is not found in the Book of Allah is invalid, even if its number is one hundred. The Book of Allah is more true (than any other deed) and the condition laid down by Allah is more binding (than any other condition). What has happened to the people among you that someone among you says: "Emancipate so and so, but the right of inheritance vests in me"? Verily, the right of inheritance vests in one who emancipates.

Abu Hurairah (RA) reported from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) a hadith like this through another chain of transmitters.
Hadith 1513
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَأَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ بَيْعِ الْحَصَاةِ ، وَعَنْ بَيْعِ الْغَرَرِ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) forbade a transaction determined by throwing stones, and the type which involves some uncertainty.
Hadith 1540
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَحَسَنٌ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي بُشَيْرُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي حَارِثَةَ ، أَنَّ رَافِعَ بْنَ خَدِيجٍ ، وَسَهْلَ بْنَ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ ، حَدَّثَاهُ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " نَهَى عَنِ الْمُزَابَنَةِ الثَّمَرِ بِالتَّمْرِ ، إِلَّا أَصْحَابَ الْعَرَايَا ، فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ أَذِنَ لَهُمْ " .
Sahl bin Abu Hathma reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) having forbidden Muzabana, i. e. exchange of fresh dates with dry dates. except in case of those to whom donations of some trees have been made. It is for them that concession has been given.
Hadith 1542
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ ، وَهَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، وَحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْمُزَابَنَةِ ، وَالْمُزَابَنَةُ : بَيْعُ ثَمَرِ النَّخْلِ بِالتَّمْرِ كَيْلًا ، وَبَيْعُ الزَّبِيبِ بِالْعِنَبِ كَيْلًا ، وَعَنْ كُلِّ ثَمَرٍ بِخَرْصِهِ " .
Ibn 'Umar (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) having forbidden Muzabana, and Muzabana is the selling of dry dates by measure for fresh dates and the selling of raisins by measure for grapes and selling of all Ports of fruits on the basis of calculation.
Hadith 1570
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِقَتْلِ الْكِلَابِ " ، فَأَرْسَلَ فِي أَقْطَارِ الْمَدِينَةِ : أَنْ تُقْتَلَ .
Ibn 'Umar (RA) reported: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ordered to kill dogs, and he sent (men) to the corners of Madinah that they should be killed.
Hadith 1581
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا الضَّحَّاكُ يَعْنِي أَبَا عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، قَالَ : كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ عَطَاءٌ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ اللَّيْثِ .
Yazid bin Abu Habib reported: 'Ata' reported to me that he heard Jabir (b. 'Abdullah) saying it that he had heard that from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) in the Year of Victory.
Hadith 1607
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، وَإِسْحَاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لِابْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ إِسْحَاق : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وَقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ مَعْبَدِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ : أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِيَّاكُمْ وَكَثْرَةَ الْحَلِفِ فِي الْبَيْعِ ، فَإِنَّهُ يُنَفِّقُ ثُمَّ يَمْحَقُ " .
Abu Qatadah (RA) al-Ansari (RA) reported he heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) say: Beware of swearing; it produces a ready sale for a commodity, but blots out the blessing.
Hadith 1621
وحَدَّثَنَاه قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَابْنُ رُمْحٍ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى وَهُوَ الْقَطَّانُ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ مَالِكٍ .

وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ . ح وَحَدَّثَنِي الْحَكَمُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ هُوَ ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ح ، وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ أَمَّا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، وَرَوْحٌ ، فَفِي حَدِيثِهِمَا : فَهَلْ لِي أَجْرٌ ، كَمَا قَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ : وَأَمَّا شُعَيْبٌ ، وَجَعْفَرٌ ، فَفِي حَدِيثِهِمَا : أَفَلَهَا أَجْرٌ كَرِوَايَةِ ابْنِ بِشْرٍ .

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَرَّادٍ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ وَتَقَارَبَا فِي اللَّفْظِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ بُرَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى ، قَالَ : " أَرْسَلَنِي أَصْحَابِي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَسْأَلُهُ لَهُمُ الْحُمْلَانَ إِذْ هُمْ مَعَهُ فِي جَيْشِ الْعُسْرَةِ وَهِيَ غَزْوَةُ تَبُوكَ فَقُلْتُ : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ أَصْحَابِي أَرْسَلُونِي إِلَيْكَ لِتَحْمِلَهُمْ ، فَقَالَ : وَاللَّهِ لَا أَحْمِلُكُمْ عَلَى شَيْءٍ ، وَوَافَقْتُهُ وَهُوَ غَضْبَانُ وَلَا أَشْعُرُ ، فَرَجَعْتُ حَزِينًا مِنْ مَنْعِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَمِنْ مَخَافَةِ أَنْ يَكُونَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ وَجَدَ فِي نَفْسِهِ عَلَيَّ ، فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى أَصْحَابِي فَأَخْبَرْتُهُمُ الَّذِي ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَلَمْ أَلْبَثْ إِلَّا سُوَيْعَةً إِذْ سَمِعْتُ بِلَالًا يُنَادِي أَيْ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ قَيْسٍ ، فَأَجَبْتُهُ ، فَقَالَ : أَجِبْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدْعُوكَ ، فَلَمَّا أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : خُذْ هَذَيْنِ الْقَرِينَيْنِ ، وَهَذَيْنِ الْقَرِينَيْنِ ، وَهَذَيْنِ الْقَرِينَيْنِ لِسِتَّةِ أَبْعِرَةٍ ابْتَاعَهُنَّ حِينَئِذٍ مِنْ سَعْدٍ ، فَانْطَلِقْ بِهِنَّ إِلَى أَصْحَابِكَ فَقُلْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ ، أَوَ قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَحْمِلُكُمْ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ فَارْكَبُوهُنَّ ، قَالَ أَبُو مُوسَى : فَانْطَلَقْتُ إِلَى أَصْحَابِي بِهِنَّ ، فَقُلْتُ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَحْمِلُكُمْ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ ، وَلَكِنْ وَاللَّهِ لَا أَدَعُكُمْ حَتَّى يَنْطَلِقَ مَعِي بَعْضُكُمْ إِلَى مَنْ سَمِعَ مَقَالَةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ سَأَلْتُهُ لَكُمْ وَمَنْعَهُ فِي أَوَّلِ مَرَّةٍ ، ثُمَّ إِعْطَاءَهُ إِيَّايَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ لَا تَظُنُّوا أَنِّي حَدَّثْتُكُمْ شَيْئًا لَمْ يَقُلْهُ ، فَقَالُوا لِي : وَاللَّهِ إِنَّكَ عِنْدَنَا لَمُصَدَّقٌ وَلَنَفْعَلَنَّ مَا أَحْبَبْتَ ، فَانْطَلَقَ أَبُو مُوسَى بِنَفَرٍ مِنْهُمْ حَتَّى أَتَوْا الَّذِينَ سَمِعُوا ، قَوْلَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَنْعَهُ إِيَّاهُمْ ، ثُمَّ إِعْطَاءَهُمْ بَعْدُ فَحَدَّثُوهُمْ بِمَا حَدَّثَهُمْ بِهِ أَبُو مُوسَى سَوَاءً " .
Abu Musa reported: My friends sent me to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) asking him to provide them with mounts as they were going along with him in jaish al-'Usrah (the army of destitutes or of meagre means or army setting out during the hard times and that is the occasion of the expedition of Tabuk) I said: Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) , my friends have sent me to you so that you may provide them with mounts. He (the Holy Prophet) said: By Allah, I cannot provide you with anything to ride. And it so happened that he was at that time much perturbed. I little knew of it, so I came back with a heavy heart on account of the refusal of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) , and the fear that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) might have some feelings against me. I returned to my friends and informed them about what Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had said. I had hardly stayed for a little that I heard Bilal (RA) calling: 'Abdullah bin Qais (RA) . I responded to his call. He said: Hasten to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) , he is calling you. When I came to the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) he said: Take this pair, this pair, and this pair (i. e. six camels which he had bought from Sa'd), and take them to your friends and say: Verily Allah (or he said: Verily Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) has provided you with these animals. So ride upon them. Abu Musa said: I went along with them to my friends and said: Verily Allah's messenger (ﷺ) has provided you with these animals for riding; but by Allah, I shall not leave you until some of you go along with me to him who had heard the talk of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) when I asked him for you, and his refusal for the first time, and then his granting them to me subsequently; so you should not think that I narrated to you something which he did not say. They said to me: By Allah, in our opinion you are certainly truthful, and we would do as you like. So Abu Musa went along with some of the men from them until they came to those who had heard the words of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and his refusal to (provide) them with (animals); and subsequently his granting (the animals) to them; and they narrated to them exactly as Abu Musa had narrated to them.
Hadith 1656
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْأَشَجُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ يَعْنِي الثَّقَفِيَّ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَبَلَةَ بْنِ أَبِي رَوَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، وقَالَ حَفْصٌ : مِنْ بَيْنِهِمْ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، أَمَّا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، وَالثَّقَفِيُّ ، فَفِي حَدِيثِهِمَا اعْتِكَافُ لَيْلَةٍ ، وَأَمَّا فِي حَدِيثِ شُعْبَةَ فَقَالَ : جَعَلَ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمًا يَعْتَكِفُهُ ، وَلَيْسَ فِي حَدِيثِ حَفْصٍ ذِكْرُ يَوْمٍ وَلَا لَيْلَةٍ .
This hadith is transmitted on the authority of Ibn 'Umar (RA) with a slight variation of words.
