Sunan Nasai 5692 — Reports Used by Those Who Permit the Drinking
أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ , قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ , عَنْ عُيَيْنَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : إِنِّي امْرُؤٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ خُرَاسَانَ , وَإِنَّ أَرْضَنَا أَرْضٌ بَارِدَةٌ , وَإِنَّا نَتَّخِذُ شَرَابًا نَشْرَبُهُ مِنَ الزَّبِيبِ وَالْعِنَبِ وَغَيْرِهِ , وَقَدْ أُشْكِلَ عَلَيَّ فَذَكَرَ لَهُ ضُرُوبًا مِنَ الْأَشْرِبَةِ فَأَكْثَرَ حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَفْهَمْهُ , فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : " إِنَّكَ قَدْ أَكْثَرْتَ عَلَيَّ , اجْتَنِبْ مَا أَسْكَرَ مِنْ تَمْرٍ , أَوْ زَبِيبٍ , أَوْ غَيْرِهِ " .
´It was narrated from 'Uyainah bin 'Abdur-Rahman that his father said:` "A man said to Ibn 'Abbas: 'I am a man from Khurasan, and our land is a cold land. We have a drink that is made from raisins and grapes and other things, and I am confused about it.' He mentioned different kinds of drinks to him and mentioned many, until I thought that he had not understood him. Ibn 'Abbas said to him: 'You have told me too many. Avoid whatever intoxicates, whether it is made of dates, raisins or anything else.'"

In this answer as well, Ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) has commanded to abstain from every intoxicating substance, regardless of what it is made from. And this is his correct legal verdict (fatwa), which is transmitted with an authentic chain of narration.
