Muwatta Malik (Yahya) 938 — Compensation for One Who Kills Locusts
حَدَّثَنِي حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى، عَنْ مَالِك، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَ إِلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، فَقَالَ : يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، إِنِّي أَصَبْتُ جَرَادَاتٍ بِسَوْطِي، وَأَنَا مُحْرِمٌ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ : " أَطْعِمْ قَبْضَةً مِنْ طَعَامٍ "
It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Aslam that a man came to Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, and said: O Commander of the Faithful! I killed a few locusts with a whip while I was in the state of Ihram. Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: Give a handful of food to someone.
