Muwatta Malik (Yahya) 778 — on What is Permissible for a Person
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ الزُّبَيْرَ بْنَ الْعَوَّامِ ، " كَانَ يَتَزَوَّدُ صَفِيفَ الظِّبَاءِ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ " .
قَالَ مَالِك : وَالصَّفِيفُ : الْقَدِيدُ
قَالَ مَالِك : وَالصَّفِيفُ : الْقَدِيدُ
It is narrated from Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair that Sayyiduna Zubair bin Al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him) used to have roasted venison for breakfast while he was in the state of ihram.
Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) said: This is what is called qadeed.
