بَابُ صَلَاةِ الْإِمَامِ إِذَا أَجْمَعَ مُكْثًا

حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ أَجْمَعَ إِقَامَةً أَرْبَعَ لَيَالٍ وَهُوَ مُسَافِرٌ أَتَمَّ الصَّلَاةَ " .
قَالَ مَالِك : وَذَلِكَ أَحَبُّ مَا سَمِعْتُ إِلَيَّ

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib used to say that whoever intends to stay for four nights should perform the full prayer.

وَسُئِلَ مَالِك عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْأَسِيرِ ، فَقَالَ : مِثْلُ صَلَاةِ الْمُقِيمِ إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ مُسَافِرًا
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, was asked about the prayer of a prisoner. He replied that the prisoner should pray like a resident, but if he is a traveler, then he should shorten the prayer.
