Muwatta Malik (Yahya) 254 — on what is reported regarding night prayer
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ عِنْدَهُ رِضًا أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَخْبَرَتْهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَا مِنَ امْرِئٍ تَكُونُ لَهُ صَلَاةٌ بِلَيْلٍ يَغْلِبُهُ عَلَيْهَا نَوْمٌ ، إِلَّا كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ أَجْرَ صَلَاتِهِ وَكَانَ نَوْمُهُ عَلَيْهِ صَدَقَةً "
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'minin Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There is no person who habitually prays every night, then (one day) sleep overcomes him, except that Allah, the Lord of Might and Majesty, writes the reward of the prayer for him, and his sleep will be charity for him."
