وَحَدَّثَنِي، عَنْ وَحَدَّثَنِي، عَنْ مَالِك، عَنْ إِسْحَاق بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ وَهُوَ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، " يُطْرَحُ لَهُ صَاعٌ مِنْ تَمْرٍ فَيَأْكُلُهُ حَتَّى يَأْكُلَ حَشَفَهَا "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that I saw that a sa’ (measure) of dates was placed before Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and he would eat from it until he even ate the spoiled and dry dates, and at that time he (may Allah be pleased with him) was the Commander of the Faithful.
