Chapter on What is Reported Regarding Compensation for Head Wounds
Muwatta Malik (Yahya) 1512 — on What is Reported Regarding
عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمٰنِ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللّٰهِ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ، أَقَادَ مِنَ الْمُنَقِّلَةِ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) took retribution for a wound that exposed the bone.
قَالَ مَالِكٌ : فَلَا أَرَى اللَّحْيَ الْأَسْفَلَ وَالْأَنْفَ مِنَ الرَّأْسِ فِي جِرَاحِهِمَا لِأَنَّهُمَا عَظْمَانِ مُنْفَرِدَانِ وَالرَّأْسُ بَعْدَهُمَا عَظْمٌ وَاحِدٌ.
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said that the lower jaw and the nose are not included in the head; rather, they are separate, and the head is separate.
