قال علي بن عاصم: وحدثني عوفٌ، عن أبي المِنْهال، عن أبي العاليَةِ قال: كنا نُحدَّثُ أنه سيأتي على الناس زمانٌ، خيرُ أهلِه من يرى الحقَّ قريبًا فيجانبُ الفتنَ (4).
It is narrated from Abu al-Aliyah that he said: We used to be told that a time will soon come upon the people in which the best of them will be the one who sees the truth clearly near and so keeps away from the tribulations.

(4) خبر صحيح عن أبي العالية: وهو رفيع بن مِهران الرِّياحي، فعليّ بن عاصم متابَع. عوف: هو ابن أبي جميلة الأعرابي.
Grading: This report is authentically established from Abu al-'Aliyah; Abu al-'Aliyah is 'Rufay' bin Mihran al-Riyahi'. Here 'Ali bin 'Asim is 'corroborated' (i.e. he is not alone).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): 'Awf is ''Awf bin Abi Jamilah al-A'rabi'.
وأخرجه ابن أبي شيبة 15/ 122 عن أبي أسامة حماد بن أسامة، والبيهقي في "الزهد" (136) من طريق إسحاق الأزرق، كلاهما عن عوف، به.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah [15/122] narrated it from Abu Usamah Hammad bin Usamah, and al-Bayhaqi in "al-Zuhd" (136) by way of Ishaq al-Azraq; both of them narrate it from 'Awf, with this same chain.
