It is narrated from Sayyidah al-Shifa' bint Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: One day I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) for something and complained of my straitened circumstances. He (peace and blessings be upon him) began offering his excuses to me, and I began to reproach him (peace and blessings be upon him) a little (out of affection and closeness). She related: Then the time of the Zuhr prayer came, and I went to the house of my daughter, who was married to Shurahbil bin Hasanah. I found her husband at home, so I began to reproach him too and said: The time for prayer has come and you are still sitting at home? He said: O aunt! Do not reproach me. I had only two garments, one of which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has borrowed (to wear). (Al-Shifa' says:) Hearing this, I said to myself: I am reproaching him (peace and blessings be upon him) while his (peace and blessings be upon him) state (of self-sacrifice and poverty) is such that he does not even have a garment of his own to wear! Shurahbil said that even of those two garments, one had a patch which we had mended ourselves.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (4) In the manuscripts it is thus: "كَانَ فِي أَحَدِهِمَا", whereas in "Shu'ab al-Iman" it is: "إِنَّمَا كَانَ أَحَدُهُمَا ثَوْبَ دِرْعٍ، فَرَقَعْنَا جَيْبَهُ" (one of the two was a shirt garment, so we patched its neck opening).
Grading: (5) Its chain is weak because of Musa bin 'Ubaydah, who is "al-Rabadhi". Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (3219) via Abu Zur'ah al-Dimashqi, from Isma'il bin Abi Uways, with this same chain. And similarly Ibn Abi 'Asim in "al-Ahad wa al-Mathani" (636 and 3176), al-Tabarani in "al-Kabir" (24/ 789 and 795), Ibn al-Sunni in "al-Qana'ah" (45), Abu al-Shaykh in "Akhlaq al-Nabi (peace and blessings be upon him)" (159), and Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (3728 and 7707) narrated it via 'Abd al-Wahhab bin al-Dahhak, from Isma'il bin 'Ayyash, from al-Awza'i, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salamah. Grading: And its chain is "talif" (ruined, extremely weak); 'Abd al-Wahhab bin al-Dahhak is "muttaham" (accused of lying), and one cannot rejoice over his narration (i.e. it is unreliable).
