Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: We have established this word from the other sources of the takhrij, because in the manuscripts a blank space was left in its place.
Grading: This chain is "very weak", because 'Umar bin Qays (known as Sandal), who is in it, is a "matruk al-hadith" (abandoned) narrator.
Reference / Source: al-Tabarani narrated it in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" (as in "Majma' al-Zawa'id" 3/ 244), and via him Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (4164), from al-Miqdam bin Dawud, from Khalid bin Nizar, with this same chain. al-Fakihi narrated it in "Akhbar Makkah" (1430) via Ibrahim bin Sulayman bin Dawud al-Balkhi, from 'Umar bin Qays, and in it he mentioned the "rajaz" (verses), which are:
Details of the narration: "How lovely is Makkah as a valley, a land where my family and my visitors (friends) are."
Details of the narration: "There I walk without a guide (knowing its paths), there my tent-pegs (roots) are firmly fixed."
Reference / Source: Ibn Shadhan in "al-Mashyakhah al-Sughra" (54) and al-Khatib al-Baghdadi in "Tarikh Baghdad" (15/ 398) transmitted something similar via Yahya bin Abi al-Hajjaj, from 'Umar bin Qays, from 'Amr bin Dinar, from Jabir bin 'Abd Allah (may Allah be pleased with him), thus making 'Amr bin Dinar the intermediary to Jabir.
Reference / Source: al-Azraqi transmitted it in "Akhbar Makkah" (2/ 154) via Dawud bin 'Abd al-Rahman, who said: I heard Talhah bin 'Umar say: Ibn Umm Maktum said, while he was holding the halter of the she-camel of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) as he performed tawaf, and he mentioned some verses. Dawud said: "I do not know whether he was going around the House or between al-Safa and al-Marwah."
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Talhah bin 'Amr al-Makki is "matruk", so his narration is of no value, and this chain is also "mu'dal" (two narrators missing).
Reference / Source: Ibn Sa'd transmitted in "al-Tabaqat" (2/ 131) from 'Abd al-Wahhab bin 'Ata' al-'Ijli, from Muhammad bin 'Amr, from Abu Salamah and Yahya bin 'Abd al-Rahman bin Hatib, who said: On the day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) conquered Makkah, 'Abd Allah bin Umm Maktum was in front of him, between al-Safa and al-Marwah, saying:
Details of the narration: "How lovely is Makkah as a valley, a land where my family and my companions are."
Details of the narration: "A land where I walk without a guide, a land where my foundations are firm."
Grading: There is no harm in this chain (la ba'sa bihi), but it is "mursal", and it does not contain the mention of Ibn Umm Maktum holding the halter of the she-camel or performing tawaf.
