It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Umayyah al-Damri (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "O Messenger of Allah! Shall I let my she-camel loose and put my trust (in Allah)?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, tie her and then put your trust."

Hadith Grading
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This hadith is "hasan li-ghayrihi" on the basis of supporting reports.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): All of its narrators are thiqah except Ya'qub bin Amr al-Damri, from whom only two people narrated; however, Imam Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat" and called him "mashhur ma'mun" (well known and reliable). Al-Dhahabi also called this chain "jayyid" (good).
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban recorded it (731) via Hisham bin Ammar.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is also a narration from Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) (al-Tirmidhi: 2517), which Imam al-Tirmidhi called "gharib".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Yahya al-Qattan declared it "munkar", but our finding is that its narrators are thiqah except al-Mughirah bin Abi Qurrah (whom Ibn Hibban listed among the trustworthy). The reason for Yahya al-Qattan's rejection was al-Mughirah being alone in this narration (tafarrud).
Grading: This report is "talif" (unreliable).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): According to al-Khatib al-Baghdadi it is not established from Imam Malik. Its narrator Ibn Raysan is "matruk", indeed "accused of lying", and his teacher Ishaq al-Bayruti is also an abandoned (matruk) narrator.
Grading: This narration is reported "mursal" from Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Layla.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): All of its narrators are thiqah except Sharik al-Nakha'i, whose hadith is accepted as "hasan" in corroborating chains and supporting reports.
Grading: By combining all the routes except the narration of Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), this hadith rises to the level of "hasan". And Allah knows best.
