It is narrated from Kharijah bin al-Harith that Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) passed away in the year 78 AH, when he was ninety-four years old. He had lost his eyesight. I saw a Yemeni cloak on his bier, and Aban bin Uthman, the governor of Madinah, led his funeral prayer.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This narration is also with the chain of the preceding one, and all its narrators up to Muhammad bin 'Umar al-Waqidi are thiqah (trustworthy). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Regarding al-Waqidi's shaykh Kharijah bin al-Harith (the son of Rafi' bin Mukayth al-Juhani), the verdict is "la ba'sa bihi" (i.e. there is no harm in him / he is acceptable). Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Tabarani in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" (1733) via Ahmad bin Hisham bin Bahram, from Muhammad bin 'Umar al-Waqidi, likewise.
